NISO Maestro Kirk Muspratt is celebrating 25 years at the helm of NWIs professional orchestra! Before you go see his event this weekend or any show this year, you should check out this documentary made about 15 years ago about the Northwest Indiana Symphony! Remembering Hoosier Isiah Whitlock Jr. who passed away yesterday. Whitlock was born and raised in South Bend (Region adjacent) and is known for his appearance dozens of films and TV shows including The Wire. Who can count how many police officer characters he played with the catch line "Sheeeeeee-iiiii-t".

In 1969, The Jewels sold Turkey at 32 cents a pound. Today you can get a Butterball for about 88 cents a pound. Considering the rate of inflation, Turkey seems to be reasonably priced. Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Ready to brush up on architectural history and learn more about northwest Indiana at the same time?

The Calumet Heritage Partnership created a series of five videos that engage, inform, and entertain viewers as they learn about notable built structures in northwest Indiana.

Each video covers an architecturally or historically significant site that is either thriving today as a result of careful planning or that currently needs more attention and resources devoted to its preservation.

This Calumet Chronicles project was supported by a Historic Preservation Education Grant given in partnership between Indiana Landmarks and Indiana Humanities.
