It's been years since I've last updated this page. This is now the last online presence of my videography company. It has been years of me paying for my web site for no real worthwhile reason. I just backed up my web site to my hard drive for offline viewing and am now terminating the actual online web site through Yahoo. Anyone may still contact me through this page. I have always also kept my same hotmail email address. Thanks!

Today I sold my DVD Duplicator I used for the business. It needed to go, business or no business. If I had a business again, I'd be going the thumb drive and web delivery route. I had thought about selling it now and then anyway. It was my least-used piece of equipment. Still a little sad to see it go. These don't seem to be selling on ebay, but I got a couple hits from Raleigh Craigslist. But I was glad to sell it to a band teacher locally here in Topsail Middle School, who also volunteers at the Presbyterian church I think it is and can possibly use it for them as well.

I'm a little torn. When I first started a web site when I was thinking more along the lines of editing for other videographers, I created a domain name www.cutmymovie.com. When Yahoo geocities made some changes I was able to secure www.realitycheckvideography.com through them. Right now, both go to the same web site. But cutmymovie.com is expiring in a few days and I'm seriously thinking about letting it go. I don't see any real purpose in keeping it. I'd rather in the future use my name or RCMotionPhotography or something. What do you think?

Thinking of cutting videography from your wedding budget to save money for the centerpieces? Have a friend or relative who is "into" video and you are considering enlisting them as the videographer rather than hiring a professional? Remember, flowers...

Well, not much to update here. Still in limbo whether I'll do anything as far as a business goes here in NC. But I'd still love to shoot weddings for other companies. I've recently been working on swapping out my DVX100B main camera (Standard Def DV tape) to a Canon DSLR and building a shoulder mount rig for it and figuring out all the different audio methods and devices I need to use with it. Along with that I am in the process of finally upgrading the edtiing system to Adobe Premiere CS 5.5, a new video card, and Windows 7 64bit.

In the past few months I've also shot some local events that can be seen here:

So long, Panny DVX100B. You've been so good to me the past 4 years, but you were growing long in the tooth, and I have to take advantage of an opportunity to trade you in for essentially an even swap for a much better quality picture and tapeless media. I had to sell you before you were worth nothing. It still sickens me that you were worth $1600 4-5 years ago, and today you're only worth $800.

At this point I must disclose, after holding off on it, that I, as most of you know, will be relocating to the Wilmington NC area. Specifically, to just under the mainland of Surf City, NC. I will be keeping my web site up with everyone's wedding videos on it. As far as the future of doing wedding videography...

It's really really really strange believing for years that one day something would suddenly happen that causes the impossible to persuade die-hards to jump off the sinking ship while you're safely on board watching on another. Meanwhile your ship is throwing out preservers for them to catch.

PIFA Street Fair 2011 (April 30). I shot a wedding in Philly that day and at the Doubletree hotel right there. I shot these clips of the fair.

I've waited for this time to come ever since I realized the domination was strangling me at some point in the mid 2000s

So Apple today released the newest version of Final Cut. And I'm reading FCP users' comments as I have been for years. They wanted an update. They wanted Blu-ray. What did they get? A consumer toy they won't dare call "professional". Today software wasn't released. An atom bomb was dropped...

I plan on this being the last time I use Sony's DVD Architect (5.0). It's like a tank compared to Adobe Encore. I only use it for one project a year for the past 3 or so years because it has the ability for multi-angle where Encore unfortunately doesn't. It won't render the 2nd video track unless it's in the box, and when it's in the box it errors and says it's orphaned. Hopefully it works despite the message.
