According to The Seattle Times, 9,000 employees, or 4 percent of Microsoft’s workforce, are affected by the cuts, which started Wednesday morning. The full scope of layoffs within Microsoft’s gaming divisions are still unknown.
Windows Central reports that Perfect Dark developer The Initiative will close as part of the reductions sweeping the company, and its revival of the 2000 first-person shooter game has been canceled. VGC reports that Rare’s Everwild, an action-adventure game that’s been in development for over a decade, has been canceled, as employees continue to be informed of layoffs across other studios such as ZeniMax and King.
Everwild, which was expected to launch with Game Pass for Xbox Series X/S and PC, was a new, original title from Rare. Few details about the game were available, though development had been troubled; in 2021, the project was “restarted from scratch.” The game was officially announced in 2019 with a brief trailer. In February, during an interview with XboxEra, Spencer cited Everwild as a game release he was looking forward to.

Pixar removed LGBTQ+ elements from the animated feature after receiving negative feedback from test screenings with audience members and executives, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
The film follows an 11-year-old boy named Elio who is mistaken for Earth’s ambassador by aliens and is beamed up to the Communiverse — an intergalactic organization — to represent the planet.
Trouble began in the summer of 2023 during a test screening in Arizona. After the film was over, audience members were asked to raise their hand if the movies was something they’d pay to see in theaters. No one did, causing Pixar executives to worry.
Topic 2: “The Old Guard 2” Movie Review- Netflix
Info: Andy leads immortal warriors against a powerful enemy threatening their group. They grapple with the resurfacing of a long-lost immortal, complicating their mission to safeguard humanity.
Topic 3: “F1” (Movie Review)

Thirty years later, the owner of a struggling Formula 1 team convinces Sonny to return to racing and become the best in the world. Driving alongside the team's hotshot rookie, Sonny soon learns that the road to redemption is not something you can travel alone.
Topic 4: “Marvel's new Black Panther animated series Eyes of Wakanda gets a remarkably Disney-fied first teaser”
Info: "Wakanda’s secrets span centuries," reads the tagline for Marvel's new animated streaming series Eyes of Wakanda, which digs deep into the hidden history of the Black Panther's homeland. Eyes of Wakanda will soon premiere on Disney Plus, and the first teaser for the series shows off an animation style that will feel right at home at the House of Mouse.
"Marvel Animation’s new action-adventure series Eyes of Wakanda follows the adventures of brave Wakandan warriors throughout history," reads Marvel Studios' official synopsis for Eyes of Wakanda. "In this globe-trotting adventure, the heroes must carry-out dangerous missions to retrieve Vibranium artifacts from the enemies of Wakanda. They are the Hatut Zaraze and this is their story."
Eyes of Wakanda is scheduled to be released on Disney+ on August 27, 2025, and will consist of four episodes. It was previously scheduled for release in 2024, and then on August 6, 2025.

Info: Abbott Elementary creator and star Quinta Brunson has revealed that she is prepared to move away from the sitcom. Abbott Elementary debuted on ABC in 2021, and follows the teachers in a Philadelphia public school, who are determined to help their students succeed. Brunson created, executive produced and starred in Abbott Elementary, as well as scripting several episodes, and has been instrumental in the direction of the show.
Abbott Elementary season 4 concluded in April, with another season on the way, and Brunson has hinted that she could be stepping back from the show.
Per Bustle, the actor discussed how Abbott Elementary has been a great success, but Brunson revealed that she is looking forward to moving away from the role of Janine. Topic 8: “Sorry Crunchyroll, You’re No Longer the Anime Streaming Giant as Another Major Platform Takes the Lead”
Info: For a long time, Crunchyroll has been a dominant force in the anime streaming scene. In an era where every broadcaster and media outlet has fought for a share of the streaming market, Crunchyroll has found a niche audience and catered to it for many years. However, despite having an extensive library of anime content, it was recently reported that anime fans have discovered a new platform for consuming their content.
According to a new study by Dentsu, it revealed that 48% of viewers globally go to Netflix to watch anime. This statistic makes sense since not every region can access Crunchyroll, like some parts of Asia, so they would rely on Netflix to watch titles like Spy x Family. And those that do, not everything will be available in that region's library. However, when focusing on the U.S. market, Crunchyroll ranks last at 23%. Dominating this region are Netflix, at 63%, followed by Disney+ and Hulu, at 46%, and then Prime Video, at 43%. As of writing, neither companies have commented on this study.
