Snow day fun! Scranton Times photographer Phillips Butler captured these kids chasing shadows across a snowy culm bank in the 1950s. These mountains of debris left behind by anthracite mining dotted the region, and created convenient playgrounds for those brave enough to try the slopes!

11:15 DISMISSAL TOMORROW

Dear families,

Beginning tonight into tomorrow, there are advisories for high winds and precipitation. Although the temperatures will be warm in the AM, they are expected to continue to drop throughout the day causing a wintry mix and potential icing on our hills. Instead of usual Friday dismissal, we will dismiss all students at 11:15 AM. Please call the main offices if you have any questions. We wish you a wonderful holiday and safe travels!

The Hancock Community Preschool sings “Jingle Bell Rock.”

After 18 incredible years as part of this community, the time has come for me to say goodbye. It has been an absolute honor to serve here as a teacher and coach.

I hope I have impacted the lives of my students and athletes even a fraction as much as they have impacted mine. You have taught me, inspired me, and made me a better person every single day.

Family has always been the most important part of my life—a value my parents instilled in me from the beginning. Now, I have the opportunity to teach and coach in the school district where my own children attend. For as long as I can remember, it has been my dream to coach and teach alongside my kids, and I’m grateful to be able to make that dream a reality.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for welcoming me, supporting me, and making me feel like part of this community.Though I’m moving on, I will always bleed blue and will forever be an Eagle.

Once an Eagle, always an Eagle

With gratitude,
Coach Davis
