Day 11 of 15 JP's Oswego County Christmas Countdown 🎄🎁

#11 Nico Murabito, Mexico (Hilbert College)
Rank: 38 (2024)
Initially committed to SUNY Brockport
College Career: (2025) 9 Games Played

2023/2024 JP's All-Oswego County Honorable Mention DB

Before College and Now: Nico was a two year, two-way contributor for the Mexico Tigers. On offense, he was at WR. While he was never the focal point of the passing game, he still showed flashes when he did get chances. Showing good hands, good route running, and he has good athleticism as well. He has 5 catches for 41 yards and 1 TD in his career as a Tiger. On the defensive side is where he shined brightest, in my opinion. He was playing under the coaching of his father at the time and you could truly see that he provided leadership and an extension of his father's vast knowledge on the football field for his teammates. He was always a consistent and reliable DB in his 2 seasons starting for Mexico. His solid coverage and ability to make a tackle were definitely a valuable part of the defensive unit in his time with them. He would come away with a 2023/24 JP's All-Oswego County Honorable Mention DB selection for his great play during the season and would end up committing to SUNY Brockport to cap off his senior year. He would ultimately transfer from SUNY Brockport to Hilbert College. In his one season with the Hawks, he appeared in 9 games. Proving to be a reliable and consistent backup SL, aka a Slot Back/Receiver. He's still got 3 bright years of eligibility left ahead of his as well, so keep pushing yourself to be great Nico! Great work so far!

Sorry this one is coming late but we will be covering 2 athletes today for our Christmas Countdown 🎄🎁!

Day 10 of 15 JP's Oswego County Christmas Countdown 🎄🎁

#10 Blake Lucas, Central Square (Grove City College) Rank: 34 (2024)
College Career: (2024) Served as a Reserve CB
(2025) 1 Game Played 1 PBU

Before College and Now: Blake spent his time on varsity for the Redhawks as mostly an all around athlete. He had the skills needed to play multiple positions, and in his time at Central Square they definitely utilized that. Playing him at WR, RB, KR, DB, and he possibly could've played QB as well. He may not have been the biggest contributor in his time in high school, but he still proved to be a steady contributor. His key skills for the Redhawks, in my opinion, were his athleticism, coverage & tackling at DB, and his motor. In 2 years as a Varsity Redhawk, he accumulated 25 tackles, 2 TFL, 1 Int, 1 FR, 4 catches for 46 yards, and 55 rush yards with a 5.0 avg per carry. He would conclude his senior year by committing to Grove City College and has stuck there since. Since joining Grove City, Blake has served as primarily a reserve DB in his 2 seasons so far. But, he did appear in one game this past season and picked up a pass breakup during that game. You're doing awesome, but keep pushing yourself Blake! Can't wait to see what the next 2 years have in store for you.

Day 9 of 15 JP's Oswego County Christmas Countdown 🎄🎁

#9 Arroyo Fierro, Oswego (Hartwick College)
Rank: 20 (2024)
College Career: (2024&2025) Served as a Reserve DL

2023/2024 Class B-2 Honorable Mention
2022/2023 JP's All-Oswego County Honorable Mention D-Lineman
2023/2024 JP's All-Oswego County Honorable Mention D-Lineman
Arcaro Senior All-Star Game Participant

Before College and Now: Arroyo was a true leader and anchor in his time with Oswego. He always gave everything he had when playing for the Bucs, leaving it all on the field each and every week. In my time covering him, he definitely shined brightest on the d-line. In his 2 seasons with Oswego he was a constant disruptor in the run game especially, with his high motor, good strength, and good pursuit to chase down ball carriers. In those seasons he accumulated 2 sacks, 48 tackles, 4 TFL, and a forced fumble as well. Definitely some of the better numbers from a defender for the Bucs in that time. On offense, he bounced around from o-line to tight end. He was a run blocker first definitely, with that high motor and strength translating well here as well. He also hauled in 3 catches for 48 yards at TE, where he was essentially an extension to the line with solid hands as well. Overall, he was definitely a memorable athlete in his time in Oswego in my opinion. As he would garner a 2023/24 Class B-2 Honorable Mention selection, as well as a 2022/23 & 2023/24 JP's All-Oswego County Honorable Mention D-Lineman selections. He would also get a chance to play in the 2023 Arcaro Senior All-Star Game. Following the end of his senior season he would commit to Hartwick College. Since arriving on campus he's definitely been working hard but has still served mostly as a Reserve D-Lineman for the Hawks, but I have confidence that over the next 2 seasons we will see his role grow for the Hawks. Great work so far, but keep pushing yourself Roy!

Day 8 of 15 JP's Oswego County Christmas Countdown 🎄🎁

#8 Neven Dermady, Mexico (Hilbert College)
Rank: 19 (2024)
College Career: (2024) 8 Games Played 15 Tkl 1 TFL 2 PBU 1 Blocked FG
(2025) 35 Tkl 1.5 TFL 1 Sack 1 PBU 1 FF 1 Kick Return 25 Yards 25.0 Avg
*Finished 6th on Team in Tackles*

2023 Class B-2 2nd Team
2023 JP's All-Oswego County 2nd Team RB

Before College and Now: Neven was a contributing athlete on both sides of the ball in his time playing for the Tigers. At RB, Neven offered a dual threat option out of the backfield. Displaying good athleticism, good elusiveness, good hands, and nice vision as well. Averaging a whopping 7.5 yards a carry, as well as a solid 10.1 yards a catch. He would accumulate 813 offensive yards (684 Rush/129 rec) in his career, with 11 touchdowns scored on top of that. He was also a very solid and consistent DB for Mexico, continuously showing that he could cover well and make a play on the ball, as well as come up and make tackles for them. And you can definitely see that those traits have translated, as well as improved since he arrived at Hilbert College. In his first 2 years for the Hawks he has been both a consistent and high contributing part of their defensive unit. He's already hit 50 total tackles in his career. With 35 of those coming this past season on his way to finishing 6th on his team in tackles to cap off a very solid sophomore season. I look forward to seeing him continue to grow and contribute for the Hilbert Hawks over the next 2 years, but great work so far Neven!

Day 7 of 15 JP's Oswego County Christmas Countdown 🎄🎁

#7 Logan Haynes, Mexico (SUNY Morrisville)
Rank: 7 (2024)
College Career: (2024) Served as a Reserve DL/Selected to SUNYAC Commissioners Honor Roll (2024-25)
(2025) 3 Games Played 4 Tackles

2021 2nd Team All-Conference
2022 Honorable Mention All-Conference & JP's All-Oswego County 2nd Team O-Lineman
2023 1st Team Class B-2 & JP's All-Oswego County 1st Team O-Lineman/2nd Team D-Lineman
2023 Arcaro Senior All-Star Game

Before College and Now: Logan put together a solid career in his time with the Tigers and was a very sound lineman on both sides of the ball for them in the 2 seasons I had to truly cover him. He was a key piece in the run game's success during his time there. His motor, strength, and just down hill run blocking abilities were huge for Mexico. On defense, he was a true run stopper. Clogging running lanes with his strength, size, and block shedding abilities. He won multiple All-League honors in his career, but here's a look at what he was awarded for his great play during his senior year. He was named to the 2023 All-Class B-2 1st team, 2023 JP's All-Oswego County 1st Team O-Lineman & 2nd Team D-Lineman, and he was also named to the 2023 Arcaro Senior All-Star Game to end his senior season. He would commit to SUNY Morrisville before graduation and has stuck there since. In his freshman season he appeared sparingly for the Mustangs, serving mostly as a Reserve D-Lineman, but was also named to the SUNYAC Commissioners Honor Roll. In his sophomore campaign this past season, he appeared in 3 games and recorded 4 tackles serving as a Backup D-Lineman. Great work so far Logan, keep on working!

Day 6 of 15 JP's Oswego County Christmas Countdown 🎄 🎁

Mason Ennist, Sandy Creek (SUNY Brockport)
Rank: 3 (2024)
College Career: (2024) Served as a Reserve RB
(2025) 2 Games Played 9 Rush 49 Yards 5.4 Avg

Before College and Now: In Mason's time before college, he was honestly one of the best RBs I've had a chance to scout. He had a great combination of size, strength, athleticism, and explosiveness to be able to burst through defenses consistently for chunk plays in his time with the Comets. In his time at Sandy Creek, he accumulated nearly 2k total yards, with 1,992 yards (1,969 rush/23 rec) and 18 touchdowns as well. On defense he was a sound tackling general at LB, picking up 2 sacks, 120 tackles, 3 FF, 4 FR, and 1 interception. He capped off his senior year with a 2023 Class D 1st Team selection and the the 2023 Class D Player of the Year award, as well as 2023 JP's Oswego County RB of the Year, 2023 JP's Oswego County Offensive Player of the Year, an 2023 All-CNY Small Schools selection, 2023 JP's All-Oswego County 1st Team RB & 2nd Team LB. A very impressive end to his career and It's safe to say that he was one of the most productive athletes Sandy Creek had in a while as well. He would commit to SUNY Brockport as a senior in 2024 and since showing up to Brockport he has served as a backup RB for the most part, appearing in 2 games this past season and picking up 49 rush yards on 5.4 avg for the Golden Eagles. It seems that he's trending upwards on the roster as well so I can't wait to see how his next 2 seasons go. Great work so far from a former Player of the Year athlete from our county, keep working Mason!

I'm sorry it's late but I had to start our Day 6 of the JP's Oswego County Christmas Countdown 🎄🎁 with who we should've highlighted yesterday on Day 5. So I will have both this Day 5 and a Day 6 post for you today!

Day 5 of 15 JP's Oswego County Christmas Countdown 🎄🎁

#5 Joseph Edick, Phoenix (Hilbert College)
Rank: 1 (2024)
College Career: (2025) 9 Games Played 87 Rush 302 Yards 2 TD 3.5 Avg
Had 3rd Most Yards on Team and 2nd Most Carries

Before College and Now: Joseph was our top ranked athlete in the Class of 2024 rankings we had, and that was definitely for good reasons. He spent 3 years with the Firebirds and all 3 he was named a captain as well, on top of that, he accumulated 2,500+ rush yards, 250+ receiving yards, 35 total touchdowns, 180+ tackles, 1 sack, 3 FF, 3 FR, and 1 Int. He put together an outstanding career with Phoenix. His great vision, strength, and athleticism combined for a mean down hill running style that powered the Firebirds offense in his last 2 years especially. On defense, he really had one of the best noses for the ball in all of the county and he was a very sure tackler as well, being a constant disruptive force for the defensive unit as well. He would be awarded 3 1st team All-League Selections, 2023 All-CNY Small School Selection, as well as JP's All-Oswego County 1st Team RB (2022&2023)/2nd Team LB (2022)/Honorable Mention LB (2023). Capping it off with invites to both The Arcaro Senior All-Star Game and The Big 44 Senior All-Star Game. He would commit to East Coast Prep in his senior year and would spend one very productive season with them before signing to play at Hilbert College. Since joining the Hawks he's been one of their most productive ball carriers, finishing his freshman year with them as the 3rd leading rusher with 302 yards and 2 TD as well. He's definitely displayed that tough running ability so far at the next level and I look forward to seeing how his future plays out at Hilbert College.

Day 4 of 15 JP's Oswego County Christmas Countdown 🎄🎁

#4 Robert Plyter, Pulaski (St. Lawrence)
Rank: 63 (2023)
College Career: (2025) Reserve WR

Before College and Now: Before Robert enrolled in St. Lawrence University he was a multi-sport athlete for the Pulaski Blue Devils. In 2022/23 season, when I had a chance to cover him, he mostly was a contributing piece on both sides of the ball, but not a true game changer necessarily for Pulaski. In that season for the Blue Devils he had 119 offensive yards, 17 tackles, and 2 interceptions. I'm glad to see him making his way onto the roster at the college level now as I'm sure he's an extraordinary hard worker, especially with the fact he played 4 sports at one point in Pulaski. In his time at St. Lawrence so far, which was only the 2025 season, he served as a Reserve WR and unfortunately did not see any in-game action during what was his sophomore season for the Saints. Keep pushing yourself man and great work so far!

We have our first commitment to announce for our Oswego County Class of 2026! Thank you for reaching out and we appreciate the opportunity to highlight you. With that being said, today we have Mason Hamilton of the APW Rebels who has committed to play Baseball at SUNY Canton! A huge congratulations to this young man as he's been a key contributor on both the football and baseball field for them. In two years of varsity action he accumulated 95 Rush Yds and 77 Rec Yds and 1 TD, as well as 2 Sacks, 35 Tackles , 1 FF, 1 FR while playing mostly at FB and LB for them throughout his 2 seasons. He was ranked 35th in our Class of 2026 Rankings as well. In baseball, last season for the Rebels he put up 5 Hits, 3 RBI, and 2 SB. Congratulations again and I look forward to seeing what you can accomplish in your senior year of baseball for the Rebels as well as the next 4 years in Canton!

And finally, our final shining star ✨ athlete of the night!

JP's Oswego County Most Valuable Player

ATH Logan Ames, Hannibal 2026
Season Stats: 109 att 1,013 yds 9.3 avg 12 TD/13 rec 395 yds 30.4 avg 4 TD/36 tackles 5 Int 1 FR
JP's All-Oswego County 1st Team RB & DB
JP's Oswego County Running Back of the Year

This year's MVP debate for me was definitely a very, very tough one. There were a few athletes this year that could honestly fit the description for this award. But, in my opinion, Logan was truly a next level competitor and game changing playmaker for the Hannibal Warriors. He had the most overall yards in Oswego County with 1,408 total yards and finished 2nd in touchdowns with 16 on the season. Part of being MVP though is doing it all for your team, and he proved he could do that on the Warriors defense as well. Notching 36 tackles plus having a tie for Oswego County high of 5 interceptions on the season. He was truly an all-around high level athlete for Hannibal this year and has already been named a JP's All-Oswego County 1st Team RB and DB, as well as JP's Oswego County Running Back of the Year and now he will be awarded this year's top honor of JP's Oswego County Most Valuable Player for his truly next level competitiveness and on field play. Congratulations Logan, and I look forward to what the next step is in your football journey!

Here's our fourth star ✨ athlete of the night!

2025/26 JP's Oswego County Underclassmen of the Year
RB/DB Caleb Robert, Mexico 2028
Season Stats: 139 att 1,049 yds 7.6 avg 10 TD/7 rec 100 yds 14.3 avg/.5 sk 70 tkl 2 Int
JP's All-Oswego County 1st Team RB & 2nd Team DB

Caleb was by far the most impressive underclassmen in Oswego County Football this past season, in my opinion. You don't see a sophomore top 1,000 yards usually, so that plus 10 TD, plus 70 tackles and 2 Int. He finished 2nd in Rush yards this year in Oswego County. This young man was the full package for the Tigers and was a huge part of their overall success this season on their way to capturing their Class Championship. He was named a JP's All-Oswego County 1st Team RB and 2nd Team DB and now will be awarded the JP's Oswego County Underclassmen of the Year for his great play throughout this season! Congratulations Carter, the future is definitely bright for you young man!
