This one’s for my Gen-X people specifically!

Can we talk about something that probably should’ve been on our radar a LONG time ago? 😳

RETIREMENT!!

Do you actually have a plan? Or are you like me, suddenly going, “OH S**T! That’s right around the corner!” 😂

At 54, I’ve been doing a LOT of thinking about my financial future. And I’ve even started working on a way to hopefully make that future a little more comfortable.

But here’s what I’ve realized.

There’s a whole lot I DON’T KNOW!

Like when should I start collecting Social Security? How much am I actually going to get? And more importantly, how the heck am I supposed to LIVE on that?

Because here’s the reality. Social Security was never designed to replace your entire paycheck. And for a lot of us, that check alone isn’t going to come anywhere close to covering the life we’re used to living.

Then there’s Medicare, healthcare expenses, taxes, long-term care, and a whole bunch of rules nobody seems to explain until you’re knee-deep in trying to figure them out.

And don’t even get me started on what happens when an aging parent suddenly needs care. I learned some of those lessons the hard way with my mom.

We’ve spent decades working, raising kids, paying bills, and just trying to keep our heads above water.

Meanwhile, retirement has been creeping up on us like a bill we forgot was due. 🙄

So lately, I’ve been doing some digging. Reading, researching, taking notes, and honestly getting a little nervous about some of the things I’m finding.

And I thought, why not share what I’m learning?

So I’m starting a 30-day RETIREMENT REALITY CHECK series.

We’re going to talk about Social Security, Medicare, retirement savings (or lack thereof 😬), nursing homes, protecting our families, and all those things we really should understand BEFORE we’re forced to deal with them.

I’m no financial expert. I’m figuring this stuff out right along with you.

But one thing is becoming VERY clear to me.

If Social Security is your entire retirement plan, you might want to start working on a Plan B.

Because hoping it’ll all work out isn’t much of a plan.

And at our age, we still have time to make changes. But we don’t have forever.

My High Ticket Story

54 years old. Working multiple jobs. No retirement plan to speak of.

And retirement keeps getting closer whether I’m ready or not. 😳

Sound familiar?

I’ve spent my entire adult life working hard, paying bills, and taking care of my family.

And when the money wasn’t enough?

Get another job, of course! 🙄

Because apparently I thought I could work myself into financial security. 😂

Spoiler alert. That wasn’t working.

That’s what led me to high-ticket online business.

Not because I knew anything about online marketing. I didn’t.

Not because I had extra time on my hands. Lord knows THAT wasn’t the case!

But because I realized I needed to build something that wasn’t completely dependent on how many hours I could work.

When I discovered a business model where ONE sale could potentially earn what takes me weeks to make driving a school bus, I started paying attention.

Right now, I’m learning, building, and surrounding myself with people who are teaching me how to do something completely different.

And honestly? It feels good to finally be working toward something instead of just trying to survive another week.

Because at 54, doing nothing about my financial future is NOT an option anymore.

If you’re over 50, working your butt off, and wondering how the heck you’re ever going to retire…

Maybe it’s time for you to look at something different, too. 💙

You wanna know something that scares the hell out of me?

I work with quite a few school bus drivers who are already retired.

Some drive because they enjoy it. Gets them out of the house, keeps them busy. And that’s great!

But a whole lot of them are driving because their Social Security checks aren’t enough to live on.

And then they’re trying to figure out how many hours they can work without affecting their benefits.

Think about that.

You work your WHOLE damn life, finally reach retirement age, and you’re STILL trying to figure out how to make ends meet.

Nope. I don’t want that.

I love driving my bus, but when it’s time for me to retire, I want to RETIRE.

Not find another job to supplement a check that doesn’t cover my bills.

And THAT is a big part of why I’m learning to build this online business at 54.

I don’t know exactly what my future looks like yet.

But I know what I DON’T want it to look like.

And I’m doing something about it now.

So let me get this straight… 😂

A $2,000 commission from ONE high-ticket sale is equivalent to 2.85 WEEKS of my school bus paycheck?!

Almost THREE WEEKS of getting up at the crack of dawn, driving kids around, and dealing with all the fun that comes with that. 🤣

Or… ONE sale.

Well, s**t. 🤦‍♀️😂

I love driving my bus, but somebody explain to me why I’m just learning about this at 54?!

And yes, I know you actually have to MAKE the sale. I’m not delusional. 😂

But you better believe I’m gonna learn how!

I’m 54 years old and just now learning there are completely different ways to make money.

And I’m a little pi**ed nobody explained this to me sooner. 😂

Seriously.

My whole life I’ve been taught to get a job, work hard, pick up overtime, get a second job if you need to, and save whatever’s left.

Which, let’s be real, sometimes ain’t a damn thing.

Nobody ever sat me down and said, “Hey, did you know you could learn to sell higher-priced products and earn commissions that could actually make a difference in your life?”

Nope. Just keep clocking in and hope there’s enough left over after the bills.

And now here I am, in my 50s, learning something completely outside my comfort zone.

Do I know everything? Hell no.

Am I nervous? Sometimes.

But I’m also wondering what my life could look like five years from now if I actually stick with this.

Because I don’t want to spend the next 10 years doing exactly what I’ve been doing for the last 30.

And maybe that’s the biggest thing high-ticket sales has opened my eyes to.

I have options I didn’t even know existed.

That’s how old I was when I found out ONE online sale could potentially pay a FOUR-FIGURE commission!

And here I’ve been working my ass off trying to make a few extra hundred bucks. 🤦‍♀️

Seriously… WHO KNEW?! 😂

Can we talk about something that makes absolutely NO sense to me anymore? 😂

People out here busting their asses trying to sell 100 things to make a couple hundred bucks.

And listen, I’m not knocking anybody’s hustle. Hell, I DoorDash for extra money. I KNOW what it’s like to work hard for every single dollar.

But when I started learning about high-ticket sales, I had a serious WTF moment.

You’re telling me I could learn how to sell ONE quality product and potentially earn a commission worth THOUSANDS?!

Meanwhile, I’m over here calculating whether a $7 DoorDash order is worth the gas. 🤦‍♀️😂

Now don’t get me wrong. Bigger commissions don’t automatically mean easier sales. There’s a learning curve, and you’ve gotta put in the work.

But at 54, I’m starting to think maybe working HARDER isn’t the answer.

Maybe I need to start working a little SMARTER.

Because this girl is running out of extra hours to sell. 😂

Y’all, I need to talk about something because I’m STILL trying to wrap my head around it. 😂

Do you know how freaking weird it is to spend your whole life working for an hourly wage and then find out you can make a few THOUSAND dollars from ONE sale?!

Like, excuse me?? WHAT?! 🤯

I’m over here driving a school bus, picking up DoorDash orders, driving charter buses on weekends, trying to squeeze every damn dollar I can out of a week.

And then I get introduced to a business where ONE sale could potentially bring in more than I make in weeks at one of my jobs.

I’m sorry, but that got my attention REAL quick. 😂

And listen, I’m 54. I’ve been around long enough to know there’s no such thing as easy money. You have to learn, put in the work, and actually build something. And sales aren’t guaranteed.

But here’s what really got me thinking…

I’ve spent YEARS trying to figure out how to make more money by working more HOURS.

What if I’ve been looking at this whole thing backward?!

What if instead of working myself into the ground trying to make an extra $500, I could learn a skill that has the potential to pay me thousands from a single sale?

Hell, even ONE extra commission like that could make a difference in my household.

I’m not saying I’m quitting my jobs tomorrow and buying a beach house. 😂

I’m saying that for the first time in a LONG time, I’m learning how to make money in a way that doesn’t involve punching another clock.

And THAT is what has me so damn excited about what I’m building.

If you’re anything like me and you’ve been working your ass off wondering how you’re ever going to get ahead…

Maybe it’s time to look at something different.

I used to think high-ticket sales was something only experienced salespeople did. 🤷‍♀️

You know, the people who could sell ice to an Eskimo. 😂

Turns out, I had a lot to learn.

High-ticket simply means you’re working with higher-priced products, which can mean earning a larger commission from a single sale instead of needing hundreds of smaller ones.

Now, does that mean it’s easy money? Absolutely not.

There’s still learning, showing up, building relationships, and putting in the work.

But after spending years trading my time for a paycheck, the idea of building something where my income isn’t directly tied to how many hours I work really got my attention.

And at 54, I’m willing to learn something new if it means creating more options for my future.
