Mark your calendars and join the Town of Hanover in paying tribute to our brave heroes at the annual Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony on Monday, May 29, 2023, starting at 10:00 am. On this solemn occasion, we gather as a community to honor and remember the men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. The parade route includes remembrances at the Hanover Center Cemetery, Hanover Town Hall, and the Sylvester School World War II Memorial.

Parade Route

The parade will begin on Hanover Street with the stirring sound of the Hanover High School Marching Band in front of Saint Mary's Church. Once at the cemetery, we will honor and memorialize various Veteran plots, including the Josselyn and Cummings World War I soldiers, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the police and fire deceased, the American Legion, and Veterans of Foreign Wars memorials.

Following, the parade will march toward the Civil War Memorial (by the cannons across from Town Hall). There, we will memorialize the Civil War as well as the Korean, Vietnam, and World War II veterans.

The parade will then march to the Sylvester School building to memorialize World War I soldiers and end at the Hanover Veterans Memorial.

Ceremony

Hanover's Memorial Day Ceremony will begin at the Veterans' Memorial at the conclusion of the Memorial Day Parade. The ceremony includes an opening prayer, remarks from our Veterans, and a roll call during the laying of a wreath. The memorial is located at 495 Hanover Street, Hanover, MA, next to the B. Everett Hall Field.

Parking is available at the Veterans Memorial, next to B. Everett Hall Field, Saint Mary's Church, and Center School.

Additional Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony Information: hanover-ma.gov/memorialday.

Bring your family, friends, and neighbors to the Hanover Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony on Monday, May 29, 2023. Let us join hands in remembrance, unity, and gratitude as we pay homage to those who have given everything to protect the values we hold dear.

If you missed us at Town Meeting, here's your chance to provide input on the B. Everett Hall Field master plan. The Town of Hanover is working on a redesign of B. Everett Hall Field with students from the Conway School of Landscape Design. Responses to this survey will remain anonymous and help inform the direction of the master plan. It should take 5-8 minutes to complete.

I want to take a moment to thank everyone who came together to make the Winter Festival such a huge success. I rely on the HPD to estimate numbers and their best estimate is that we had about 4000 people in Four Corners on Friday night.

There’s so many people to thank! This was a town-wide effort! Everyone from Hanover Police Department, Hanover MA Fire Department, Town of Hanover, MA DPW, Hanover town hall HanoverParks AndRecreation, Hanover Community Television, Hanover MA Council on Aging, John Curtis Free Library staff, Hanover MA Historical Society, Office of Family and Community Engagement, all the shops in Four Corners...

Catherine Loreth Follett coordinated all of the businesses in Four Corners, Lisa Bellantonibrought in the field hockey team to stuff all the luminaries and coordinated the food trucks. And the Scouts! I think every scout in town came to lay out the luminaries and man the fire pits. Emmanuel Dockter, who bought all the Scouts dinner. Our town manager, even our brand new neighbor Previte’s Marketplace who offered up parking at his new market. Steve Ryerson for all the awesome photos, Drew Philip and Dave Malekpour offering up their DJ services, Deb Singer Brewer for coordinating dancers on the main stage. All of the dance schools who donated their time to entertain us… First Citizens' Federal Credit Union for sponsoring the stages.

There’s so many people… Saint Andrew's Episcopal Church church… Can you imagine how many bakers were involved in coordinating that cookie sale! Hanover high school students in the vox chorus that came and sang, four corners resident Cindy Newton and her student who played strings in the cold on the steps at Saint Andrews…

David Nathan for wearing the big red suit, Chad Graybill for the storage trailer, Christopher Azizian for hauling all the decorations and the doctor's cart from the Historical Society, Burke's Alewerks for the generous pours.
...and of course, whoever dressed those goats in sweaters!
Candidates running for town offices in Hanover, Massachusetts participated in the Hanover Woman's Club, Juniors- non profit Candidates Night on May 6, 2020 via a virtual Zoom webinar.
