The 2025 Audubon County Fair will get underway on Tuesday. The fair will run through Sunday, July 20th . The coronation of the Audubon County Fair Queen will take place Wednesday night following the Sponsorship Dinner. 2025 Queen candidates include Maecy Rudy, Emily Foran, Evelyn Gomez, and Olivia Carter. The 2025 Crawford County Fair starts Wednesday -
(7-15-25) - It’s fair week for Crawford County as they celebrate the 79th annual Crawford County Fair this Wednesday through Sunday. Some activities have already begun, such as the crowning of the Fair Queen which occurred Monday night to Kennedy Eischeid. Fair board president Amy
Mendenhall says crews are finishing up one new addition to the fairgrounds that will surely make everyone happy. Here’s a look at the schedule:
Wednesday, July 16th -
9 am – 4-H/FFA Poultry Show in the Poultry Barn
Noon – Flag raising ceremony with Veteran’s Lunch to follow
1 pm – 4-H/FFA Horse Show – Expo Building
1 pm – 4-H/FFA Livestock judging contest registration with contest at 1:30 pm
5 pm – State Fair and Outstanding pictures – Event Center
6 pm – Western Iowa Pullers Tractor Pull – Grandstands – Admission is $5 for everyone
6 pm – Garden Tractor Pull – Grandstands – Admission - $5

Pottawattamie County Fair to be held July 16th through the 21st -

The Shelby County Board of Supervisors will meet at 9 am Tuesday morning at the Shelby County Courthouse. Among items on the agenda is the Pipeline liaison Report, Metropolitan Area Planning Agency RPA-18 Long Range Transportation Plan, Chris Frederickson Secondary Roads report including ROW permit application for Nishnabotna Valley REC and 900th Street Level B Upgrade Petition; Todd Valline will have the Chamber Report; there will be Supervisors Committee reports, and Department Head reports.

The Harlan City Council will meet Tuesday, July 15th, at 4:30 pm in the Council Chambers at Harlan City Hall. Among items on the agenda is the renewal application for Pizza Hut of Harlan – a Class C Retail Alcohol License. Jeff Musich will be present with a street project update. In other business Ordinance No. 2025-02 – an ordinance amending the code of Ordinances for the city of Harlan, by adding new chapter 79-regulating the use of Electric Scooters, first reading; Resolution 2609 – a Resolution setting thte salaries for appointed officers and employees of the City of Harlan for the Fiscal Year 2025-26, approve playground equipment purchase for Grandma B’s Dream playground; receive and File Park and recreation committee meeting minutes from July 8th, and review their recommendation for a memorial bench from Charlotte Leinen at Pioneer Park. There will also be the City Administrator’s Report, the Mayor’s Report, Code Enforcement Officer Update; Chamber Update, HMU Update and Shelby County Sheriff’s Update.

Join us for some kayaking fun on Tuesday, July 15 at 6:30 p.m. at Prairie Rose State Park. We will meet on the east side of County Road M47/the east side of the lake. Kayaks, paddles, and life jackets will be provided. All levels of experience are welcome. We will go over some basics and then head out to paddle. Those under the age of twelve must be accompanied by an adult on the water.
