🚨 NEW CHARGE FILED IN BELL COUNTY CASE 🚨

A Cumberland man already facing serious felony charges has now been accused in the death of an unborn child.

According to the Bell County Sheriff’s Department, 44-year-old Christopher Shipman has been charged with Fetal Homicide – 1st Degree.

The complaint states:
• Incident occurred on October 28, 2019
• The victim was 14 weeks pregnant
• Shipman allegedly punched and kicked the woman in the stomach
• The unborn child was delivered onto the floor
• A 5-year-old child witnessed the incident
• Shipman is accused of placing the child’s remains in a toilet

Bond for this charge is set at $250,000.

Shipman was originally arrested on August 21, 2025 in Harlan County following an investigation by Sgt. Jody Risner and Detective Hunter Luttrell.

He was served an indictment warrant Monday night, November 17th, with assistance from:
✔ Evarts Police Department
✔ Harlan Police Department
✔ Harlan County Sheriff’s Department

He is charged with:
• (2) Counts – So**my 1st Degree (Victim Under 12)
• (2) Counts – Sexual Abuse 1st Degree (Victim Under 12)
• Strangulation 1st Degree

Shipman remains lodged in the Bell County Detention Center.

Officials say more charges are possible as the investigation continues.
