On the evening of 02/19/26 HFD was dispatched to Harlem Methodist Church for a reported indoor natural gas leak. Responding personnel were able to use gas metering and detection equipment to locate and shut off the leak. The following photo and letter was received from those who reported the leak. We always appreciate our crews being recognized!

“To Harlem Fire Station #1:

I wanted to personally thank you for your service at the wedding rehearsal for my son in February. After finishing our rehearsal, someone in the party smelled a gas leak coming from the Fellowship Hall. We immediately called the station and within minutes you were there (of course, you are right across the street!).

You men were quick to respond and made sure of our safety — they found the problem and shut off the area of concern. Your team were all professional and friendly. After the threat was eliminated, you even took time for a few photos with the wedding party.

It is a source of comfort to know that our neighbors stand by ready to respond. If we can do anything to return the favor, do not hesitate to reach out.

Looking for a place to slow down, connect, and be refreshed this summer?

Join us on Wednesday nights at 6:30 PM for Oasis, a time of Bible study and prayer as all adults gather together for one class. Whether you've been attending for years or are just getting connected, we'd love to have you join us.

Children are welcome to attend with their families, and nursery is available for ages 3 and under.

Please note that our Youth Ministry will be meeting at different times throughout the week this summer.

We hope you'll join us as we spend time in God's Word and encourage one another together this summer.

We were recently awarded a foundational infrastructure grant to level up our Food4Kids program operations! 🎒🍏

From industrial vertical shelving and heavy-duty sealable storage bins to new platform trucks and rolling carts, this heavy-duty equipment is a total game-changer for our workflow. Better infrastructure means we can store, pack, and transport food for our local kids more efficiently than ever before.

Yesterday, members of our Crime Suppression Unit proved that they are always ready to respond when called upon. After two subjects fled from a traffic stop conducted by Deputy Olivia Gutierrez on Bobby Jones Expressway near Washington Rd., deputies quickly sprang into action. Following a lengthy foot chase, the driver was apprehended by Deputy Gutierrez.

During the investigation, deputies recovered ma*****na as well as two fi****ms from the vehicle. We are proud of the swift response, teamwork, and dedication our Crime Suppression Unit demonstrates every day as they work to keep our community safe. Great job to everyone involved!
