I’ve posted a in-depth thought process on every platform except here regarding ‘Haiku’. First off, shout out to spilata.tv who always lets me come up with my own stuff on his music. Just being able to play freely with someone compositions is a different type of trust I don’t take lightly. Shout out to fellow Chicagoan for catching the phrasing. Music is never about perfection, but I believe intention. This is a brilliant record & Spi is a brilliant artist. I hope he keeps getting the love he deserves!

One of the best gifts that marriage has brought me is the gift of Fatherhood. Got to spend some time with my family this afternoon and Chantel McBride threw DOWN in the kitchen! Glad I got to spend quality time with my Father-In-Law & I’m super grateful that I get to be Shannon’s Plus Dad.

I remember when I first got to New York & took a lesson with Professor Solid AKA Maestro Bruce Williams. He told me a while ago that whenever he steps in the Lead Alto chair he prepares the music beforehand so that he can let the sax section know exactly how to phrase during the piece. I’ve been diligent about preparation since then. Side Note: know you understand why us musicians are loco, the metronome just ticking away lol. It’s not perfect, but that’s what true practice is!
