Beginning Wednesday, July 16 at 6:45 A.M., construction crews will start work on Harper Road as part of a much needed road reconstruction and drainage improvement project. We recommend planning for potential delays or detours throughout the day, especially on the 16th.

During this phase of construction, access to Harper Road from 10th Street will be completely closed. We will provide updates as conditions change and access points are reopened. In the meantime, anyone needing to reach the park or nearby businesses should use the open access point from 23rd Street.

To help ensure the safety of construction crews and drivers, the speed limit in the work zone will be reduced to 25 miles per hour. We kindly ask all drivers to slow down and show respect to the men and women working to improve our roads.

The park and surrounding businesses remain open throughout construction. "Friday Nights in the Park" will go on as scheduled, and all attendees are encouraged to enter via 23rd Street during the event.

We know construction can be an inconvenience, but this project is a major step forward in strengthening our city’s infrastructure. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to complete it safely and efficiently.

Floodwaters are no joke. As little as 6 inches of moving water can knock over an adult. 12 inches can sweep away a small car. And 18 to 24 inches can carry off most trucks.

With heavy rain in the forecast, we want to remind everyone: If you see water over the road, don’t risk it. It’s not worth your life.

Your Choctaw Police Department and the City of Choctaw want you to get home safe. Please be smart, stay alert, and when in doubt… Turn around. Don’t drown.
