Got to have some pictures taken of me this time!

We used a zoom lens for some of these and the experience was wild!

And yes, I did sit on the edge of the top floor of the parking garage, but I did not stand on the same edge (though the height of where I was standing was still significant to me 😅).

Got to get into nature and process a little. It's funny how much we take for granted in such a digital age. Sometimes hiking through the mountains for a few hours is where you find your SELF, and ANSWERS.

Being silent sometimes helps you hear what is always inside you.

It was so much fun getting to get out of the house and think of some photo ideas. Very last minute, but Asia made it very easy to take pictures!

I have the privilege of getting to watch this wonderful almost 2 year old named Ellie grow up. She is so incredibly smart, sweet, and caring and she doesn’t even know it yet. That got me thinking about who she may become. And it scared me. She will have all kinds of influences throughout her life. She’s not my daughter, and I know her parents will do an amazing job protecting her, but no matter what, she will experience hurt that changes her world view.

There are incredible people out there trying hard to change perspectives and educate. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is a prime example of a woman who is not afraid to be big and bold. She’s not afraid to chase what she believes in and be outspoken about it. She spends so much time educating and fighting for people.

So these pictures were supposed to capture confidence, boldness, and a lack of fear. Someone who isn’t afraid to be who they are, wherever they are. Just like Ellie right now, and hopefully forever.

I hope to take some more pictures with this idea in mind.

"Be the change". It's a simple statement but can hold so much power. I am often afraid of change. It can hurt, it can feel like it doesn't make any sense, and it can prevent. But it can also bring greatness into your life, if you choose to embrace the change. More importantly, if you become the change you want to see, then your perspective is set on creating a positive world view. I don't know what life is going to bring my way, I don't know who will continue to be a part of it, but I know that I will never again shy away from being WHO I AM. I will have a voice. And I will be okay. Never stop changing and growing, never stop creating, and always find beauty in life. Even when it seems like there isn't any.

In order to "find happiness", sometimes it takes looking among what we would consider messy and broken, and pulling beauty out of it. This series in two parts tries to highlight some of the beauty in the city of Harrisburg. This is the first post in the series. I'm calling it Walden. There is a song that will go with this as well.
