Most of us can still remember exactly where we were when the world seemed to stop on September 11, 2001.

So much has changed in the years since, but at the heart of this day, one thing never will: we remember.

We remember the lives that were lost. We remember the families whose lives were forever changed. We remember the first responders who ran toward danger, and every person who carried the weight of that day long after the smoke cleared.

Twenty-five years later, their names, their stories, and their sacrifice still matter.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget. 🇺🇸

Yesterday, Chaos Divers had the immense privilege of speaking at the Elgin Police Department’s First Annual Cold Case Symposium.

It was an incredible day spent listening to so many powerful speakers, investigators, professionals, and families who share one common goal: finding answers for those who are still waiting.

One of the most meaningful moments for us was hearing from Susan Trainer, sister of Karen Schepers. Karen’s story will forever hold a special place in the hearts of our team, and hearing Susan share her perspective was a reminder of exactly why this work matters. Behind every cold case is a person. A family. A lifetime of questions.

We were also honored to present Chaos Divers, who we are, what we do, how we conduct our searches, and how volunteer search organizations like ours can work alongside law enforcement and first responders. We walked away having made some amazing new contacts and connections that we hope will lead to even more collaboration in the future.

We cannot say enough about the Elgin Police Department and everything they have done for us.

They are truly a department that cares, about the cases they investigate, the people whose names are inside those case files, and the families who continue waiting for answers.

Elgin PD exemplifies what it looks like when law enforcement is willing to embrace outside resources, new technology, different perspectives, and organizations willing to help.

Because ultimately, it isn’t about who gets the credit.

It’s about everyone working together with one goal in mind: bringing answers home to families.

Thank you, Elgin Police Department, for welcoming Chaos Divers, for believing in collaboration, and for allowing us to be part of such an important day.

We are incredibly grateful and incredibly honored.

SOLVED: From Search to Recovery: Honoring Kortney Staples | Chaos Divers

On August 9, 2026, a search for answers became a heartbreaking recovery.

Chaos Divers traveled to Chester, Pennsylvania, to search the Delaware River for Kortney Staples, a young woman whose family and loved ones deserved answers.

Using sonar, we searched the water for any sign of Kortney and the vehicle she was believed to be traveling in. That search ultimately led us to a vehicle beneath the surface and to the answer everyone had hoped would be different.

Kortney was located.

What followed was a coordinated recovery effort alongside local law enforcement, fire departments, first responders, and Rob’s Towing to bring Kortney and her vehicle back to shore.

This video documents that search, but more importantly, it honors Kortney.

Behind every missing-person case is a person who is loved. A daughter. A sister. A mother. A friend. Someone whose absence leaves an empty space in the lives of everyone waiting for them to come home.

We never celebrate an outcome like this. We are grateful for the opportunity to help provide answers, while recognizing the unimaginable heartbreak those answers can bring.

To Kortney’s family and everyone who loved her: thank you for trusting us with a small part of her story. Our hearts remain with you.

Kortney, you were searched for.
You were loved.
You are not forgotten. ❤️

Missing. Never forgotten. Finally found.

From search to recovery, we will continue going where the answers may be because every family deserves to know.

Posts like this mean more to us than words can explain.

We want to thank Gary and his family for trusting us to search for their dad, who has been missing since 1969–1970. Although we didn’t find the answers we were hoping for this time, we are not giving up. We will be back to search new areas and continue doing everything we can to help bring this family answers.

To every family who has welcomed us, trusted us, shared their loved one’s story, and allowed us to become part of their journey—thank you. That trust is something we never take lightly.

And to all of you who follow, donate, share our posts, pray for these families, and support Chaos Divers—you are part of every mission we go on. You help keep the boats fueled, the sonar running, and our team moving forward.

This is why we do what we do, folks. It isn’t about recognition. It’s about the families, the answers they deserve, and making sure they know their loved one has not been forgotten.

Thank you for believing in us and standing beside these families.

For all you RVers, what’s the best replacement couch you’ve purchased?

This one has definitely served its purpose, but it’s time for an upgrade! Ours converts into a bed, which is really nice when we have company, we’d love to keep that feature.

What brand or company would you recommend for the best comfort, quality, and usability? Let us know what you have and whether you’d buy it again!
