Hi there, my name is Kim Vander Poel. I’m the social media specialist and founder of Fresh Impact. I currently reside in the Midwest with my hubby and our furry critters Nala and Prince. While we are enjoying the empty nest, we love the times our children, their spouses and our grandchildren visit. When I’m not on social media, you will find me hiking, biking or reading a book. (Or out for coffee with friends.) Younger years:
I am the oldest of 7 children and grew up in a small community in southwestern Minnesota. Our large family provided me lots of “relational” opportunities. One of the greatest and impacting gifts our parents gave us was the gift of “work hard at all you do” mentality. It’s a gift that I bring to my clients. Why did I choose to start a social media management company? The short answer: I didn’t. Ever since I completed cancer treatment in 2010, I’ve pondered “Is there more to life than what I’m currently living?” That’s a tough question to carry with you every day. In late summer of 2014, I saw a course offering for social media management through iBloom. In the 1st class session, our instructor shared with us the knowledge & skills that a social media manager should have. At that moment, I knew I just discovered my next career. Understand Technology (Ummm…does developing websites just for fun count?)
Enjoy working on a computer (Yah, slight addiction.) Enjoy interacting with others on social media. (Sure glad there isn’t a timer keeping track of how long I spend online visiting.) Enjoy researching (I am the “geek” in the library with 12 books on the table studying “just for fun.” After all, doesn’t everyone want to know why are barns red?)
Enjoy being helpful (Home daycare provider for six years, nurse for 20 years.) Enjoy learning new things (Why is one of my favorite words.) Enjoy writing (Ever since I could hold a pencil in my hands, I dreamed of writing.) Passionate (To a fault at times.) After completion of the iBloom Social Media management course, I started working with clients.
