⛈Some key messages to take away today in preparation for the incoming severe weather. We say this out of an abundance of caution-- we love our community and have been fortunate to have had minor damage the past few storms, but with that, that doesn't mean we need to ease up on the precautions.⛈

🏠Do you have a specific space in your home you can go to if there is a tornado spotted? We have several local businesses and churches that have opened their doors for storm shelters. We will add to this list as we receive them:

Saline County:
Harrisburg City Hall Basement – 110 E. Locust, Harrisburg– pets allowed on leashes and kennels
McKinley Avenue Baptist Church – 410 W. Sloan Street, Harrisburg
Carrier Mills Methodist Church – 109 E. Washington St, Carrier Mills
First Christian Church – 1125 Walnut Street, Eldorado

White County:
The City of Carmi is opening the basement of the Carmi Public Library, located at 103 Slocumb Street, for a storm shelter in the event of severe storms this evening.
Please enter through the door that leads directly to the basement, located to the left of the main entrance.
Please keep in mind in the event of a power outage, the elevator will not be available.

Gallatin County:
The Presbyterian Church in New Haven will have their basement open. The side door on the west side of church will be unlocked.
The Equality Presbyterian Church basement is unlocked for anyone the needs to seek shelter from the storm tonight.

📱Are your phone charges? Power outages may happen; charge your phones now to ensure you have battery life. Do you have battery packs? Give those a charge, too!

🌊We are looking to experience high levels of water with the threat of flash floods and flooding in our area. Something to always remember-- 𝐓𝐮𝐫𝐧 𝐚𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝, 𝐝𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐝𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐧! Say this to yourself, your spouse, to your children who drive, and your friends! We cannot stress this enough. 𝐓𝐮𝐫𝐧 𝐚𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝, 𝐝𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐝𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐧.

⚡️Downed power lines! If you come across a downed power line, always assume it is energized and dangerous and stay at least 100 feet away.

Again, we are saying all this with an abundance of caution. Please stay safe and weather aware! ⛈
