🐾 : Status Report – New Hire Announcement

Reporting from Ride the Sky HQ. 💼🐾

I’m Derby, aka Derbs, Chief Barketing Executive & VP of Sock Acquisition & Retention. I’ve been in training for some time now. Lurking. Observing. Learning office procedures.

Due to a Christmas cookie–related incident, management is currently sleeping on the couch. As a result, I have assumed control of the office.

Current qualifications:
🧦 Advanced sock acquisition & redistribution
🍪 Treat approval (universal)
💨 Zoomies for morale
🛋️ Strong stance against crate naps

Senior Advisor Chloe is on site. One eye open. Mildly concerned. 😑🐕

Status: Active. Leadership: Confident. Chaos: Managed.

A heartfelt thank you to my incredible 2025 clients — you filled this year with trust, laughter, and some truly unforgettable moments. Being fully booked because of you is something I don’t take lightly. 💛

And to my 2026 clients already on the calendar, I’m so excited for what we’ll create together in the year ahead. It’s going to be a good one. ✨

You’ll still see a few pre-scheduled posts pop up here while we soak up family time, but Ride the Sky will be stepping away to recharge until the New Year.

If you’re hoping to secure a 2026 session, you’re welcome to head over to the website and send a message — we’ll be back in the office and happy to help as soon as we return. 📅

Until then, wishing you a season full of rest, warmth, and a little bit of magic. Let the holiday festivities begin. 🎄

In typical Tennessee fashion, the weather has decided it will not be cooperative and give us a cold or snowy Christmas 🎄☀️

Instead, we’re celebrating in mild temperatures, questioning seasonal expectations, and watching horses shed like it’s April.

Coats are optional.
Layers are a suggestion.
And the calendar is clearly just a guideline.

Here’s to Christmases that don’t look like the movies, weather that refuses to follow the rules, and living the animal life that stays delightfully unpredictable.

Merry Christmas from the Ride the Sky Herd to yours ❤️

🎄 Ah yes, Christmas — the only time of year when sitting under a dead tree and eating candy out of socks is not only acceptable, but cherished. 🍭

It’s the season where making popcorn, threading it with a needle, and draping it around the house feels like a totally reasonable decorating choice.
Crafty. Festive. Slightly questionable. 🍿✨

It’s also the one magical window of time when you can put antlers on your car, drive around town, and no one calls for a wellness check. It’s just “holiday spirit,” not a full-blown reindeer lifestyle. 🚗🦌

Could you do all of this in, say, April?
Sure.

Would it make you the neighborhood eccentric with strong opinions about seasonal boundaries?
Also yes. 😂🎅

So enjoy it while you can.
Lean into the chaos.
January is coming — and with it, judgment.

Behind the scenes right now is less holiday magic and more human question mark 🫠

It’s editing. More editing. And then editing again… while sitting in a position no spine was ever meant to survive 🙃

My hand is officially a claw ✋➡️🦞
My back resembles a question mark ❓
And my migraines would like everyone to dim the lights and lower their expectations 😅

Between that, there are inquiry calls for 2026 sessions, ordering custom albums and wall art 📚🖼️, and generally trying to convince my body that this is, in fact, fine.

So if things feel quiet online, just know it’s because I’m back here turning moments into finished artwork — slightly contorted, deeply focused, and very committed 🐴💻

If you’re waiting on edits or artwork, it’s happening — claw hand and all 🙃

🎁✨ Last delivery day before Christmas!

My backseat and trunk are looking very on-brand… stuffed to the brim with gifts heading to their Ride the Sky Herd homes. 🚗💨

Today’s mission: deliver as much joy as humanly possible to horse people and pet people alike — because if anyone deserves extra holiday magic, it’s the animal lovers who brush hay out of their hair, remove dog hair from their bra, and realize their pants are basically a museum of mysterious smudges...before walking into Target. 🐴🐾❤️

I am in a very serious race against the calendar right now ⏰🎄

Because I want everything finished before the week between Christmas and New Year’s. That week is sacred. 🛋️✨

That week is for sitting on the couch with my dog 🐶, asking important questions like:
📅What day is it?
🤷Do I have pants on?
🧀Is it wrong to eat more cheese?
🍪Do Christmas cookie calories count? (They do not. This is science.)

So yes, I’m working ahead. Yes, I’m focused. And yes, it’s all fueled by the promise of couch time and a week full of zero decision-making 🫠

If you’re thinking about a future session — especially 2026 — reach out sooner rather than later… before I fully disappear into the couch 🛋️🙃

Dear Santa🎅,

Hello. It’s me. Just checking in to say I’ve been a very good boy this year. 🐴🎄

I stood quietly for grooming...most of the time. I allowed festive photos. I only expressed my feelings about new equipment in a totally reasonable way.

Anyway, I assume my spot on the Nice List is secure.

Okay, wait. I may have moved the fence that one time. 👀 And yes, I ate my holiday stocking but, in my defense, the stocking was hanging too close to my face, which feels like entrapment.

Also, I would like the record to show that if something is within reach, it is legally considered mine. This includes garland, hats, lead ropes, and the human’s personal space.

In conclusion, I regret nothing. But I do enjoy treats. So let’s call it growth.

Warm regards from your most honest (and hungry) boy,
Chief

Happy Thanksgiving to the creatures who contribute nothing to dinner… and yet still expect a seat at the table.

Today I’m grateful for:
• Horses who act like they haven’t seen food since July (while standing next to a full hay net).
• Dogs who have perfected the art of staring directly into your soul until you drop a piece of turkey.
• Horses who give you the side-eye because dinner is four minutes “late,” even though time is a construct they do not understand.
• Dogs who position themselves under the table like tactical crumb-retrieval units deployed for maximum efficiency.
• The horse who almost behaved for photos… until a leaf moved.
• The goats, cats, and chickens who photobomb every portraits like it was their full-time job.

Honestly, I’m just thankful these animals let us love them, laugh at them, and take pictures of them even when they’re being absolute gremlins.

What are you thankful for this year?

If your horse has been dropping hints that they deserve a photoshoot (stepping on your foot, ignoring your commands, dramatic hair flips)… this is your sign.

Real talk: You keep saying “one day.”
Your camera roll is full of blurry zoomed-in pasture shots.
And your horse is aging faster than you’d like to admit.

Let’s fix that.

Whether your horse is a supermodel or a certified disaster muffin (and, trust me, I love a good muffin...), I can create a session that feels like you — muddy boots, inside jokes, chaos, and all.

If you're ready for portraits that actually feel like your horse, visit the website at the link below and let's do this.
