Do You REALLY Know Your Audience? (Or Are You Just Guessing?)
Most businesses think they know their audience. But when I ask, “Can you describe your ideal customer in a sentence?”—I usually get vague answers.
Extremely vague, like to the point when they see the difference after they fix this it is almost embarrassing thinking back on it.
Here’s the problem: If you don’t deeply understand who you’re marketing to, you’ll waste time, energy, and ad dollars pushing in the wrong direction.
So, let’s fix that.
✅ Step 1: Identify Your Audience’s Pain Points
• What keeps them up at night?
• What problems do they desperately need solved?
• What objections might hold them back from buying?
💡 Tactic: Browse Reddit, Quora, or industry Facebook groups. See what real people are asking. Their words = your messaging goldmine.
✅ Step 2: Get Inside Their Head
• What words do they use to describe their challenges?
• What emotions are tied to their problems? (Fear, frustration, excitement?)
• What triggers their buying decisions?
💡 Tactic: Use AI tools like ChatGPT to generate audience personas OR conduct short 5-minute customer interviews—people love to talk about their struggles!
✅ Step 3: Track the Right Data
• Who is already engaging with your content?
• Where does most of your traffic come from?
• What content gets the best response?
💡 Tactic: Dive into LinkedIn analytics, website heatmaps, and even simple Instagram poll responses. The patterns will show you who actually cares about what you’re saying.
🎯 Bottom Line: The more you listen before you market, the easier it is to create content, offers, and ads that actually work.
