The Ha-Ro-Pa system has eliminated patch groups. This upgrade enables audio to be transmitted directly to individual talkgroups. As an example, secondary information is now accessible on Tac 1 and Tac 3. This change went live at 1600 today. Although the patch tag will remain in place for at least another year to listen to historical calls, users can now opt for a specific tac channel to listen to complete calls from 1600 today forward.

Labeling update and instructions: The orange circle is major category groups. You would use this to toggle talkgroups in ALL the agencies on/off. (Green=all on, yellow=some on, red=all off). You likely won't find this useful, unless you listen for fun and want to hear everything in a category.

In the blue box are tags. They name agencies. The content is implied from the category number (i.e. you know 1.AUGUSTA is fire/rescue because of the 1.) This is to try to keep it simple and uncrouded. For functional listening (like listening to a incident live), these are likely the most useful to quickly select what you want without scrolling.

A few tips:
- For fire/rescue calls in Harrisonburg, Rockingham, and Page, you need to leave on 1.PATCHES HAROPA. This is in addition to 1.RKINGHAM or other tag you choose.
- Med 10 is in 1.INTEROPS. There are other talkgroups here as well, but used infrequently. So leave this on if you want to hear helicopter stuff in Ha-Ro-Pa region.
- If you're listening to historical fire/rescue call in Ha-Ro-Pa region, only fill in the Group & System fields. (If you choose a talkgroup like Tac 3, you will miss audio).

New storage added, minimum history going forward will be 400 days. May be extended. Also, A backup server has been created: https://ashburn.haropascanner.com/. It is a duplicate of https://scanner.haropascanner.com/. They are located in Washington, D.C. & Ashburn, VA, respectively. If you have problems with server disconnecting, try the ashburn server. Depending who your ISP/phone provider is, one server may have better latency than another.

Virginia's STARS system is now mostly encrypted, as expected. The last VSP traffic was on 11/8/24. The only audio that isn't yet encrypted is some VDOT traffic, but that will be soon too. Due to this, STARS will be removed from the scanner. My plan is to use the equipment to add the SAW trunked radio system to the scanner, whenever it becomes live. According to SAW documents available online, that system will be split east and west, and my equipment happens to be pretty central. Because of this, I'm hopeful it'll be able to cover all ALL traffic in Augusta county, Staunton and Waynesboro cities. (As long as it doesn't get encrypted).

Now includes Shenandoah County trunked radio system. All existing users have access. As a psa to all users: if there is any systems you don't use at all, message me and I can remove it for you so the user interface is less cluttered.

Wanna listen in on that call, or look up and listen to one from last night, or last month? Can Do. This service covers the trunked radio system for Harrisonburg / Rockingham / Page. I do not include school buses or public transport. Harrisonburg city police units and JMU units are encrypted, but you can hear dispatch. All fire/rescue and sheriff’s are covered. Covers Augusta county fire/rescue and sheriff. Covers the statewide STARS system with state police from the Rawley Springs and Bear Den sites.
All this for $10/ year!
