Here are ways to nurture faith at home based on this week's Bible story, A New King.

📖 Read pages 110–111 in The Peace Table: A Storybook Bible or Isaiah 11:1–9. What does it mean to be wise? Name someone you know who is wise and tell why you think they are wise.

🙏 Pray for leaders in the world. Pray that they will make wise decisions that will lead to peace.

🎨 Create: In Isaiah’s message of hope, all kinds of animals lived together peacefully. Draw a picture of wild animals and tame animals living happily together.

🌿 Summer is the perfect time to explore God’s creation with the children in your life!

Encourage people of all ages in your congregation to get outside, notice the beauty of the natural world, and cultivate a spirit of wonder and gratitude. Here are a few simple, meaningful ways to get started:

📖 Read or memorize verses from Psalm 104 together.
🌾 Create a summer nature table with leaves, flowers, shells, or other small treasures. Add a magnifying glass and spend time observing each item up close.
🙏 Begin each day with this simple prayer: “Help me, O God, to live peaceably with all creation. Amen.”
👂 Practice listening as a spiritual discipline. Sit quietly outdoors (or indoors!) and name the sounds you hear. Give thanks to God for what surrounds you.

Let’s make space this season to slow down, notice, and give thanks for the gift of creation.

📣 Meet the Team: Shana Peachey Boshart
Project Facilitator for Shine Everywhere 🌟

We asked Shana: "What’s one thing you wish parents knew about nurturing faith at home?"

“You can do this! There will always be grace to cover your imperfect attempts—and even your big blunders! The spiritual journey is a lifelong process of growing and learning, so learn-as-you-go parenting fits right in with that. We can trust God to turn our imperfect attempts into good fruit in the long run.”

We're so grateful for Shana’s wisdom, encouragement, and faithful leadership as she continues to lead Shine Everywhere!

💛 Everyday service matters.

Your example—how you care, help, and love in your daily routine—is shaping your child’s faith more than you might realize. Research shows that simply living out your faith by serving others at home has a bigger impact on teens’ spiritual growth than even the best Christian education programs.

That’s why “Serve” is one of the core practices of SHINE Everywhere. Parenting is full of small acts of service—meals, laundry, listening, helping—and each one can point your children toward a life of faith, love, and compassion.

Look for ways to be a helper together. Name acts of kindness. Cheer each other on. Grow closer to God as you serve.

✨ We’re cheering you on too!

Here are ways to nurture faith at home based on this week's Bible story, The Road to Ethiopia.

Read pages 300–301 in The Peace Table: A Storybook Bible or Acts 8:5–6, 26–40. Talk about what baptism means and explain how baptism is done in your tradition.

Pray: Light a candle or turn on a battery-operated candle. Take turns naming where you have seen God’s light in the world and respond by saying, “Thank you, God, for bringing your light into the world.”

Create: Write a Bible verse on a piece of paper. Roll it up to make a scroll then unroll it and read the verse aloud.
