Looking for ways to bring this Sunday’s Bible story, Magi Come to Worship, into your home? Here are some simple ideas for the week ahead.

📖 Read pages 176–177 in The Peace Table: A Storybook Bible or Matthew 2:1–12. Go out and look at the stars. Imagine traveling at night following a star.

🙏 Pray prayers of praise for God’s gift of Jesus. At the end of your prayer each evening, turn on your outside lights or light a candle and put it near a window as a sign of welcome for visitors to your home.

🗣️ Sing the carol “We Three Kings.” Many versions of the song can be found on YouTube—here’s one option to use: https://youtu.be/c4IvTrKrk88?si=XZizm3o1X2CE_yw9

"Glory to God in heaven, and on earth peace among those whom God favors." (CEB)

On this Christmas Day, the Shine team sends warm greetings to you and your faith community. As we celebrate the birth of Christ, we give thanks for the good news of great joy—God’s peace made known in the world through Jesus.

May this holy day be filled with wonder, gratitude, and renewed hope as you reflect on God’s love made present among us.

🎄 Merry Christmas from all of us at Shine.

On this final day of Advent, we reflect on the gift of love.

In 1 John 4:7–21, we are reminded that love begins with God—not as an idea, but as a gift made visible in Jesus Christ. “We love because God first loved us.” As Advent draws to a close, we pause to receive that love again and to carry it forward into the world.

May God’s perfect love cast out fear, draw us closer to one another, and shape the way we live and love beyond this season. Come, Lord Jesus.

Introducing Reach—a new, all-digital faith formation curriculum designed specifically for high school youth.

Reach invites young people to engage deeply with God, Scripture, one another, and their wider faith community through interactive six-week units. Each unit offers a flexible format that works equally well for Sunday school, midweek gatherings, or retreat settings, making it easy for leaders to adapt Reach to their context.

Whether youth are exploring a biblical story, engaging topics like peacemaking or creation care, or wrestling with real-life questions, Reach provides thoughtful guidance and interactive activities that foster honest conversation and meaningful reflection.

Because faith is formed in relationship, Reach includes FlexGen sessions—intergenerational gatherings where youth connect with children, young adults, and older generations to explore faith together. Optional weekly text messages help leaders stay connected with youth beyond the classroom.

Reach is a collaborative project of MennoMedia and Brethren Press, with tiered pricing based on group size. Two units will be available beginning January 2, 2026, with additional units releasing quarterly in 2026–27.

Available January 2, 2026:
• Sacred Rhythms: Living Faith in Daily Practice
• Whole People, Holy People: Faith and Mental Health

🌸 Fourth Sunday of Advent 🌸

This week in our Advent journey, we turn toward love—quiet, courageous, and faithful. In Matthew 1:18–25, we meet Joseph at a crossroads, invited to trust God’s work unfolding in ways he did not expect. Rather than turning away, Joseph chooses love: staying, listening, and making room for God-with-us.

As we light the fourth candle, we’re reminded that love often shows up not in grand gestures, but in faithful obedience, compassion, and the courage to say yes when the path ahead is unclear.

✨ Where is love asking you to trust God more deeply?
✨ How might choosing love open space for God’s presence in your life?

Join us this Sunday as we prepare our hearts for Christmas, reflecting on the love that comes near—steady, sacrificial, and full of promise.

Looking for ways to bring this Sunday’s Bible story, Jesus is Born, into your home? Here are some simple ideas for the week ahead.

📖 Read pages 170–173 in The Peace Table: A Storybook Bible or Luke 2:1–20. The angels sang about peace on earth. Draw or paint pictures of what that might look like.

🙏 Pray prayers of praise to God for the LOVE that Jesus brings to the world. Every day have family members take a photo of someone or something they love. At the end of the week, look back at the photos and sing “Away in a Manger.”

🎁 Create a treasure box using a small tissue box or something similar. Mary treasured the words of the shepherds. What are you treasuring this Christmas season? Have family members write or draw pictures of what they treasure and put them in the box. Pack it up with your decorations and be prepared to look back at your treasures next year.
