No matter your religious beliefs, political views, skin complexion, or social status, one thing we can all agree on is that our troops have sacrificed to protect this country. 🇺🇸

Some people didn’t choose to serve but were drafted.
Others had limited options based on where life was taking them.
The rest willingly signed their lives away to defend us all.💪🏾

My father is my hero. 💫
He was a Sergeant in the Vietnam War.
Two of his brothers also served in the military.
He ran a tight ship behind closed doors but still spoiled us with love and attention. I’m so grateful my kids get to experience such an honorable man as their granddad. 🫶🏿

He's very blessed to be able to navigate (& FIGHT for) his life, health, & benefits after serving alongside having a loving family. Not all Veterans can say the same. Be kind & take a moment to thank a Veteran today. ❤️🤍💙

We’re kicking things off with Movies & Munchies: Halloween Edition at RiseUP for Arts in Hartford — double feature, unlimited popcorn, and full spooky vibes 🎬🍿
🕖 7PM – Get Out
🕘 9PM – Sinners
🎟️ Pay at the door (see flyer for details!)

Then we roll right into TWO nights of spooky karaoke
🎤 Thursday: Halloween Edition Karaoke at The Brownstone with DJ B-EZ + DJ Michelle Bee
🎤 Friday: Scary-oke & Beer at Maple Café in East Hartford with costume prizes + drink specials served up by Jordyn Cooney 🍸
🎃 Both nights: No cover, all energy.

Spaces like this make it possible for us to gather, learn, network, and build in real time — centered in Black + Brown entrepreneurship, creativity, and collaboration. Des’s isn’t just a beauty supply store, it’s a shared table for opportunity and connection.
