A majority of the first twenty-six years of my life was spent in the neighborhood of South Side Jamaica, within the borough of Queens, New York. It was there that I learned to ride my first bike, played my first basketball game and where I even had my first kiss. But as the years passed I realized that I didn't have a purpose. After completing grad school I moved to Connecticut where I found work as a full-time English teacher. But while there, I worked through many pressing matters in my life. I was broke, I was being cyberstalked, I was depressed, and got out of a very toxic relationship. However, by God's grace, I overcame all of those obstacles and I'm here to tell you that no matter what issues you currently face in your personal life, you can too. This book serves as a transparent message for those relating to the fluctuating experiences of becoming a young adult within the United States of America. My name is Kevin Anglade and I am

Book Synopsis:

For many millennials, navigating the daily pressures of life and the internet is not only a challenge, but draining. Nonetheless, it is the reality. How could anyone possibly live a life designed for them when the gram says that they are not good enough? A Flower That Rose is a personal account by Kevin Anglade centered through honesty and patience. The story itself tells us that without community at the forefront of our personal development, we are nothing and will suffer amid the process. This book will start honest dialogue for those interested in exploring the ups and downs of becoming an adult within their own lives. Especially when it appears that they are down and out for the count.

Millennial Conversations Episode 7

- Reposting

"These last four years as a teacher has changed my life. I've learned so much and have matured beyond belief when it comes to looking at the world in a particular way. What I'm trying to figure out at this point in my life as I leave the classroom is how do I remain grounded and connected to the youth of the next generation? How do I continue to push boundaries, reimagine what the future could look like in education while pursuing other ventures? I'm not exactly too sure at the moment but I remain devoted to working with youth both in education and the criminal justice system for the remainder of my life."
