Be very cautious as early season conditions exist. Some areas will have ample snow cover, and others may be very thin. Please note as of this posting -- Washington and Sheboygan Counties remain CLOSED. Be aware of your location as riding on CLOSED trails is considered trespassing. Call the Ozaukee County Snow Phone for the official status at 262.284.8259

Snowmobile trails are starting to open up. Planning a snowmobile ride on the fresh powder? Remember to watch for other riders also making the most of the conditions, check trail status and contact local fishing clubs for the latest on ice conditions.

Fresh snow can cover potentially dangerous obstacles on frozen waterbodies, like cracks or heaves. Be sure to plan your route and let someone know your plan.

Review these safety tips before you hit the trails:
– Carry a cell phone and let people know where you are going and when you'll return home.
– Remember that no ice is ever 100% safe ice.
– Always ride sober. If you choose to consume alcohol, wait until you've reached your final destination or returned home safely.
– Ride on the right-hand side of the trail.
– Stay on the trail and respect private lands.
– Take a snowmobile safety class.
