Grizzly Ranch was founded in 2014 by Dexter Osborn, whose vision for wildlife rescue and conservation laid the foundation for the sanctuary’s mission. Today, the facility is operated by Isaac Rempe and Kevin Officer, who share a passion for animal welfare and conservation. Together, they work tirelessly to ensure every resident at Grizzly Ranch receives the care, respect, and love they deserve. Our mission goes beyond rescue and rehabilitation. We are committed to educating the public about wildlife conservation and the importance of coexisting with nature. Through private tours and community outreach programs, we connect people with these incredible animals, sharing their unique stories and raising awareness about their species and habitats. Currently, Grizzly Ranch is home to five brown bears, primates, reptiles, livestock, and other animals who cannot return to the wild. Each animal has a story, and our goal is to provide them with a safe, stimulating, and permanent home. Every donation, tour, and act of support helps us expand our enclosures, improve habitats, and continue our mission of rescue and education. We normally don’t respond to negativity, but we want to address a recent one-star review left by someone who has never visited Grizzly Ranch Bear Rescue.

For a 100% not-for-profit facility like ours, built on community support and transparency, a single unfair review can have a real impact. We don’t spend money on ads or marketing—we rely on word of mouth, trust, and the kindness of those who believe in what we do.

Kodiak bears are massive brown bear subspecies found only on Alaska’s Kodiak Archipelago. Males can weigh up to 1,800 pounds and stand 10 feet tall on their hind legs. Despite their size, they’re omnivores, eating everything from salmon and berries to small mammals. They hibernate in winter, with cubs born in the den around January. Known for their intelligence and surprisingly tolerant behavior, Kodiaks have a stable population of about 3,500 and are carefully protected in the wild.
