The Chicopee Fire Department responded just after 7:41 a.m. to 534 Front Street for the activation of the fire alarm system at St. Stanislaus School. Upon our arrival students from the before-school program that had been in the building had all safely evacuated. Inside the building our members observed smoke, but no fire. Firefighters used a thermal imaging camera and were able to located the fire in an enclosed area beneath the roof. The fire was extinguished and crews remained on scene until 1:00 p.m. to ensure there was no further extension. The cause of the fire is under investigation by State Police fire investigators assigned to the State Marshal’s office and the Chicopee Fire Department. No injuries were reported.
