SEARCH IS ONGOING FOR A MALE VICTIM IN YESTERDAY’S DROWNING ON LAKE HARTWELL ACCORDING TO HART COUNTY SHERIFF CHRIS CARROL:

Authorities are on the water this morning continuing the search for the male victim involved in yesterday’s drowning incident near the end of Ridge Rd. on Lake Hartwell.

On June 20, 2026, just before 6:00 p.m., Hart County 911 received a call regarding a possible drowning on Lake Hartwell near the Mega Ramp. Deputies with the Hart County Sheriff’s Office responded along with Hart County EMS, Hart County EMA, and the Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR). Elbert County EMA is also assisting with the search efforts.

The Hart County Sheriff’s Office boat, Hart County EMA boat, Elbert County EMA boat, and multiple Georgia DNR boats searched the area utilizing boat-mounted sonar in an attempt to locate the male victim.

Personnel from the Hart County Sheriff’s Office, Hart County EMA, Elbert County EMA, and Georgia DNR are continuing to utilize boat-mounted sonar and other resources to search the area.

If you are on the water in the area of the Mega Ramp, please use caution and stay clear of any emergency vessels and emergency lights so search operations can continue safely and effectively.

We ask that everyone keep the victim’s family and the first responders involved in your thoughts and prayers as this search continues.
