Once again, McHenry County College is inviting the public to its annual People in Need Forum to learn about the abundance of resources and support available for county residents needing assistance.

The forum takes place from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026, at the college, 8900 Route 14, Crystal Lake.

Exhibitors and speakers will cover issues such as immigration, senior care, caregiver resources, food insecurity, mental health, employment and more. Besides helping people seeking assistance, the forum is an excellent resource and networking opportunity for social service agencies, faith-based organizations, civic groups, law enforcement, elected officials and others.

Looking for a job? The McHenry County Workforce Network is holding a multi-employer job fair on Wednesday, Jan. 14.

The event takes place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Workforce Network's headquarters at 500 Russel Court, Woodstock. If you're a veteran, the doors open for you at 10:30 a.m. to give you first crack at talking with companies that are hiring!

Confirmed employers so far include True-Value Hardware, TC Industries, Alden Terrace of McHenry, McHenry County Government, and Pace Suburban Bus.

🎄 Christmas Tree Collection Begins January 5! 🎄

Now through Friday, January 30, 2026, the Public Works Department will collect discarded Christmas trees on your regularly scheduled garbage day.

• Place trees on the public parkway by 7 AM on your garbage day
• Remove all tinsel, lights, decorations, nails, bags, and stands
