Dear Friends in the Woodstock, IL area: I hope you will join me in supporting this fundraising campaign to help create a major art landmark in the community. This is one of the most visible commitments the town has made, in my lifetime, toward Woodstock becoming an 'arts destination'. Of particular significance, the sculpture project was awarded to Woodstock's very own Bobby Joe Scribner! The piece is well on its way to being constructed, but completion is dependent on private funds to match the City's funding of $30K (total cost $60K). John Hegner preparing to make some noise in Door County!

Next up at DCA, a 2-day residency with singer-songwriter/pianist/vocalist/producer John Hegner. On Friday, he'll be next door working with Gibraltar 5th graders, and then, it's a double header at DCA on Saturday.

In the morning, as part of DCA’s Let’s Play Series, John will lead us in making a soundscape. Participants are invited to bring a line, lyric, or poem they’ve written and/or an item from home or nature that can be used to make sound.

Later that evening, John Hegner joins forces with Door County poets for a performance featuring songs, poetry, and collaborative soundscapes. Past Door County Poet Laureate, Nancy Rafal, curated the poet roster which includes Al DeGenova, Ed DiMaio, Ralph Murre, Carrie Sherrill, Chera Van Burg, and Mike Orlock. The poets will read their works accompanied by semi-improvised compositions. The collaborative works will be interspersed with projected visual art and John Hegner solo selections.
