It was a retirement ceremony fit for a queen and Royal Riviera would have expected nothing less 💁🏼‍♀️👑 Campaigned by and to the 3* level, “Riv” “Rivvy” “Rivvy Tivvy Tavvy” and most affectionately referred to as the “Hay Hippo” came to my program as the most fitting partner for several years ago 🦛💕With a personality as big as her appetite, Riv quickly taught Tess how to throw down scores in the teens at the lower levels and win both competitions and the turn out awards. We will miss watching them go across country in their signature perfect lavender turn out but know that Riv is having the time of her life grazing on the greenest of pastures 💜

I leave for three weeks to go on an epic judging tour (Burghley, Cornbury, and the Europeans at Blenheim) and leave behind these girls to take care of the most important 18 horses and 4 dogs in my life. And what happens? I come home to them giving ME gifts, the farm looks cleaner than I’ve ever seen it, the horses feel amazing, and the dogs are running things per usual 🩵

Three years ago today I walked around Blenheim anxious to tackle my first famous event overseas. This afternoon I walked around just as excited as Member of Ground Jury for my first European Championships 🩵 Never before seen - a fence that’s actually two fences - best of luck to everyone 🍀

It’s taken a few days to put into words my gratitude for being a part of the 2025 . To experience for myself why this event is so legendary is something that I encourage every eventer out there to come and do because it is difficult to even put into words. I was like a little kid on our official course walk waiting to get to the edge of The Leaf Pit and tip over the edge! Dared to look down into Cottesmore Leap! Goosebumps walking through Winners! What a privilege for our sport to compete at this venue, organized and sponsored by this team, and supported by these crowds 🩵 It was an incredible week of sport, I am thankful to have been working with such an experienced, likeminded and fun team, and to have had a front row seat watching Ros and Walter continue to be legends in the making 🍾

It’s full steam ahead to cross country day here at Defender Burghley Horse Trials tomorrow, and before you know it I’ll be at Cornbury House Horse Trials next week, and then on to the FEI Eventing European Championships.

So happy for my long time friend and supporter Elizabeth Bonner watching years of her breeding program now win her first two events in a row 🍾 Breeding is not for anyone without thick skin, patience, and a sense of humor and finally Elizabeth has horses succeeding in eventing and jumping both in Europe and the US. It’s very exciting to have been a part of it from the beginning and most exciting that Elizabeth will be here later this fall to take over the reins and hopefully find herself in the winners circle! India’s mother was Elizabeth’s most favorite mare of all time and made quite an impression at the 3* level - some big hooves to fill 💕

In disbelief I will never again hear that truck coming down the drive. I don’t take the time at work to stop for anything - but I always had time to talk to Angus Whyte. Making fun of Scottish words I couldn’t pronounce or at least thought I could until Angus said them. He’s one of the five phone numbers I have memorized. I’ve said more heart felt “thank yous” to Angus than I could ever count and quite possibly more than I’ve ever said to anyone in my life. There will never be another Angus. Today the world lost a great horseman. Today the world lost a great human. Judith H Whyte I am so glad he didn’t suffer; but my heart aches for you and your family as he left us far too soon. I’ve been in tears all day that selfishly I will never get to say goodbye to someone so special. May he live on forever in our memories, knowing that he touched the lives of so many 🩵💕🩵
