HUSKERS> The Nebraska basketball teams return to the floor this weekend after taking a week off for finals. The women will play Cal Baptist on Sunday at 11:00am followed by the men's game against North Dakota at 7:00pm. Both teams are 11-0 on the season.
BRONCOS> The Hastings College men's basketball team lost to Texas Wesleyan 80-58 yesterday in Fort Worth. The Broncos trailed 36-19 at halftime. Makhiah Tarver came off the bench and scored 15 points for the Broncos. DaRon Hall had 14. Cameron Coriaggio had 11 points and five rebounds. Hastings is now 2-12 on the season and will host Friends University on December 31st. Tip-off will be at 1:00pm.
The Hastings College women will host Nebraska Wesleyan on Monday. Tip-off will be at noon. We'll have the game on X-Stream Sports beginning with the pre-game show at 11:45am.
The Hastings College 2026 baseball schedule has been announced. The Broncos will open the season with a three-game series at McPherson College January 31-February 2. Their first home game at Duncan Field is set for March 11th against York. Their conference opener is set for March 14th and 15th at home with a series against Briar Cliff. The GPAC Tournament will begin on April 29th.
LOPERS> Five players scored in double figures and Nebraska-Kearney sunk 12 three pointers to down Regis 87-73 last night in Denver. The Lopers are now 6-5 on the season and will play Metro State in Denver on Saturday.
The UNK women will play South Dakota Mines on Sunday. Tip-off will be at 1:00pm.
H.S. SPORTS> In high school basketball tonight, the Hastings High boys and girls will play at Gretna in the first round of the Eastern Midlands Conference Tournament. Adams Central will play at Fillmore Central. St. Cecilia will host Sutton. We'll have the games from the Chapman Gym on X-Stream Sports. The girl's game is at 6:00pm with the boys to follow at 7:30pm. Pre-game show begins at 5:45pm.
In boys high school basketball last night, Elm Creek beat Minden 74-51, Lawrence Nelson defeated Shelton 54-46 and Wilcox Hildreth beat Arapahoe 74-36. In girls play, Minden beat Elm Creek 70-51 and Shelton defeated Lawrence Nelson 62-30.
The Heartland Hoops Holiday Classic will be held tomorrow at Lynn Farrell Arena at Hastings College. The eight-game slate kicks off at 9:00am with Fullerton taking on Silver Lake. The other games will have Osceola playing Boyd County, Yutan against McCool Junction, Elm Creek against Central City, McCook playing Grand Island Senior High, Doniphan/Trumbull against Bridgeport, Grand Island Central Catholic against Amherst and Douglas County West against Adams Central. We'll have the Adams Central game on X-Stream Sports. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:05pm. Pre-game show at 7:50pm.
NFL> In the NFL last night, Seattle battled back from a 16-point fourth quarter deficit to beat the Los Angeles Rams 38-37 in overtime. The win gives the Seahawks a one game lead in the NFC West standings with two to go, and it puts them in the driver's seat for the conference's number one seed. Before this game, the Seahawks had been 0-155-0 all time when trailing by 16-points or more in the fourth quarter.
There are two NFL games scheduled for Saturday, Philadelphia will play at Washington and Greem Bay is at Chicago.
NASCAR> Former NASCAR driver Greg Biffle and his family were killed in a plane crash yesterday in Stateville, North Carolina. The 54-year-old Biffle won 54 races across NASCAR's three national series, including 19 at the top Cup Series level. He finished second in the championship standings to Tony Stewart in 2005. Three years later, he became the first driver to win two playoff races in a year. Biffle made his Cup debut in 2002.
