A 2-5% for TORNADOES is in place for Sunday, May 18, 2025.

This storm system has quietly been increasing in potential energy and getting to the point we need to start paying close attention. Any storm that forms Sunday will have the potential to spin up a tornado or two.

Supercell storms are possible with this system, and they may produce a quick tornado, then weaken for a while, then ramp back up producing another quick tornado. Will be a day to watch every storm closely!

Storms will start in western Nebraska in the late afternoon, move into central Nebraska during the evening, then into eastern Nebraska overnight.

WHAT...Blizzard conditions expected. Total snow accumulations between 2 and 6 inches. Winds gusting as high as 60 mph.

* WHERE...Portions of north central Kansas and central, east central, and south central Nebraska.

* WHEN...From 1 AM to 2 PM CDT Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...Visibilities may drop below 1/4 mile due to falling and blowing snow. Plan on slippery road conditions. Widespread blowing
snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions will impact the Wednesday morning commute. Strong winds could cause tree damage. Expect power loss.

Do not use cruise control! Reduce your following distance! Brake in advance! Be aware of your surroundings! Just because the speed limit is 50, that does not mean go 50! Slow down.

While accumulating snow has largely come to an end, roads remain slick and drifting snow will continue until winds taper off this evening. Drive safe during the evening commute.
