Flashback Friday ✨

In 2020, we created the Mississippi Black Heritage T-shirt to honor six remarkable Black Mississippians whose contributions helped shape our state and the world.

Over the years, we’ve loved seeing this shirt worn by so many people who share a pride in Mississippi’s Black heritage.

This shirt is a celebration of the importance of knowing, celebrating, and preserving our history. 🖤

Mississippi has a complicated history, but it is also home to so much Black excellence, resilience, creativity, and achievement.

And that’s a story worth telling.🖤

Black is beautiful. 🖤 Representation matters.

There’s something powerful about seeing a little Black girl grow up surrounded by images that reflect her beauty, her culture, and her possibilities.

Who were your role models growing up? Who made you see what was possible for you? 💕

✨ Flashback Friday ✨

One of our favorite things about the Mississippi Natural Hair Expo was seeing families make it a day to remember. 💛

From matching shirts to smiling faces, moments like these reminded us that the expo was about so much more than hair—it was about community and bringing people together.

Thank you to every family who spent the day with us and helped make each expo so special. 🫶🏾

To our amazing community,

After much thought and reflection, I’ve made the decision to pause Mississippi Natural Hair Expo this year.

This time will allow me to be intentional about what’s next and continue creating meaningful experiences for our community. While this wasn’t an easy decision, I know it’s the right decision for this season.

I’m deeply grateful to every sponsor, vendor, presenter, volunteer, attendee, and supporter who has been part of this journey. To everyone who believed in this vision from the beginning, thank you for taking this journey with us.

Together, we’ve built something truly special in Mississippi—one that has grown far beyond state lines and reached supporters across the country and around the world.

Through this journey, we’ve shown that Black people in Mississippi matter—and have always mattered. Our presence, culture, and experiences deserve to be valued, and that truth will continue to guide what I create moving forward.

As we prepare for what’s next, we invite you to stay connected with us on Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Threads. You can also join our mailing list to receive updates and continue following our journey.

In the meantime, we will continue to share updates, stories, and community highlights across our platforms as we move forward.

This is a pause—not goodbye.

Thank you for your continued support. I look forward to sharing what’s ahead when the time is right.

With love and gratitude,

Happy Juneteenth! ❤️🖤💚

Today, we honor freedom, resilience, and the richness of our culture.

Did you know? More than 25 years ago, MSNHE founder organized her Mississippi hometown’s first Juneteenth celebration — long before it became a national holiday.

Her commitment to preserving and celebrating Black culture has always been at the heart of her work and is woven into the legacy of MSNHE.

Here’s to honoring our history, celebrating our culture, and continuing to build spaces where our legacy lives on. ✊🏾

“The most disrespected woman in America is the Black woman.”— Malcolm X

Trying to dim her light or take away her dignity by questioning her womanhood is not just disrespect — it’s misogynoir. And Black women have endured it for far too long.

This love is for , and for every Black woman who has ever had her identity, beauty, or brilliance attacked simply for existing.

We see you. We honor you. We stand with you.
