Jones County Deputy Reunites Missing Dog With Owner After a Year Apart

On Wednesday, JCSD Deputy Davy Keith spotted a friendly Boxer wandering the parking lot of Keith’s Superstore in Ellisville. Concerned for her safety, he placed her in his patrol car and began searching for the owner.

After a microchip scan at a local vet, the dog—named Marley—was identified and linked to her owner, Kyle Piercy of Purvis. The emotional reunion took place Friday morning.

Mr. Piercy says Marley had been missing for over a year and believes she was stolen. Thanks to Deputy Keith’s compassion and persistence, this story has a very happy ending. ❤️🐶

⚠️ 911 OUTAGE UPDATE ⚠️

A major fiber cut is impacting emergency communications across Mississippi. Right now in Forrest County, including the City of Hattiesburg, all 911 calls are being rerouted through a national call center before reaching local dispatchers.

This means you may hear multiple rings or experience a short delay before your call is answered. Do not hang up—your call will go through.

If you’re in Hattiesburg city limits and cannot get through to 911, call 601-475-1306 for emergency assistance.

Local, county, and state agencies are working with providers to fix the issue as quickly as possible. We’ll share updates as they come in.
