Have you heard of the wild ponies of Chincoteague and Assateague? They were made famous by Misty of Chincoteague, a children's book by Marguerite Henry. I have been able to see ponies on both ends of the island during visits last year and this year.

What is your travel motivation?

Mine is to find new places to photograph, but when I get back home, I find that what I remember are of one or two special people I meet who I may not have even photographed. St. Michael's? Oh, that was where the awesome guy who makes nets demo'd his skill. Azores? The whale tour captain's stories were amazing!

Sao Miguel is covered in hydrangeas. They were just starting to burst into bloom when we were there. Imagine coming around a curve in the road and there they are, stretching ahead as far as you can see. We had that glorious experience a number of times! The ones in this photo are overlooking a tea plantation.
