Today our hearts are incredibly heavy as we say goodbye to our friend, K-9 Tambo.
After eight years of service and more than 10,000 detection searches, Tambo spent his career protecting others. Then in retirement he faced terminal cancer with the same courage that defined his life. He was a fighter that defied the odds. His story is inspirational and doesnât end here.
Tambo will always be the definition of hope to me.
Hope when the odds are against you. Hope when tomorrow isnât promised. And hope that even through the hardest days there can still be a good day on the horizon.
We will always be grateful that Tambo spent one of those good days here with us at Macâs. At the time, we were simply happy to have him here. Today, that day feels like an incredible gift.
There is still one more thing we can do for Tambo.
Tambo is a candidate for the American Humane Hero Dog Awards in the Military Working Dog category, and voting continues through September 18.
