I first saw this Map of Weymouth 35 years ago at Tuft's Library on Broad Street in the Weymouth Room. I was researching my Great Great Great Grandfather who built the ship you see at the top right of the Map.
The Nathaniel Porter Keen - Shipbuilder was located on what is now Fore River Avenue between Sea Street and King Cove Beach Road.
He built the World's Largest 4 masted Schooner in 1884!
I really love this Page and when people discover photos of themselves or their friends!
I'm going to start adding more photos pertaining to Weymouth's History in recognition of the 400th Anniversary.
Check this Map out and see if you can find your Street or even your house if it was here in 1880!
Many things stand out on this Map!
Where's Legion Field?
The Town Hall?
The High School?
The Fore River Bridge was a Pivot Bridge!
There's no Shipyard or Power Plant!
There isn't enough land to build a Compressor Station!
