One this Day in Rock N Roll History!

The Beatles released what they called "one last song", a Soft Rock ballad written by John Lennon titled "Now and Then". The single was backed with a new mix of the band's first single, 1962's "Love Me Do", with the two serving as bookends to the band's history. "Now And Then" was rescued from a cassette tape that John Lennon recorded in 1977 as a solo, piano, home demo, but left unfinished. The surviving Beatles, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr and George Harrison attempted to complete it in 1995, but the trio abandoned their efforts because Harrison thought it was "fu***ng rubbish." In the summer of 2023, AI-backed audio restoration technology allowed McCartney to add some new verses, while Starr laid down a drum track, and archival recordings of Harrison's guitar work were added to finalize the project.

Fifty years ago, a 24-year-old Ace Frehley stormed the Winterland stage in 1975 — and now, in stunning colorized HD quality, the moment feels reborn. For any KISS fan, this isn’t just vintage footage; it’s living history. As “Parasite” ripped through the speakers, Ace’s guitar screamed like a live wire, sparks flying from every note. You can see the fire in his eyes, the grin, the danger. With Ace gone, this color-restored clip hits harder than ever — a farewell immortalized in high voltage.

On this day in 1976, the Scorpions released their fourth studio album, VIRGIN KILLER. Unfortunately, even though it features some of the best songs from the Uli Jon Roth era, it seems destined to be remembered for having one of the most controversial album covers in history. The original cover featured a n**e prepubescent girl (in a provocative pose) with exposed breasts and cracked glass covering her ge****ls. The implications of child po*******hy created controversy around the world, and as a result, the album was re-issued with a different cover in several countries. The new cover featured the band in an impromptu (and somewhat ridiculous) pose, but at least it kept everyone out of jail. This was actually the first of many Scorpions album covers to be censored in the US (lest we forget Lovedrive, Animal Magnetism, and Love at First Sting), but none were as blatant (or shocking) as Virgin Killer. Unfortunately, we can't show you the original cover because we'll get put in FB jail again. What do YOU think about it?
