STORMY SOUTH - Multiple rounds of heavy flooding rains & severe storms are forecast to impact the Gulf Coast through Mothers Day weekend. Rainfall totals of 2-4” with isolated totals even higher are likely from Louisiana to the Carolinas. I would keep any Mother’s Day plans indoors. ☔️⛈️⚡️

Drier and a little cooler tomorrow. Rain and thunderstorms returns Saturday afternoon and peaks Mother's Day. Some linger rain chances Monday, finally dries out for good Tuesday with cooler starts and warming afternoons.

Most of the rain is just to the south of us right now. Moving nearly due east. There will be more on the way as that cool front continues to move into our area. Close to 1/2 inch recorded here this morning.

It doesn't look like anything severe will be hitting our area at this time.

11:00am ET - A line of storms continue to slowly drift south as the individual storms along the line move east. Several storms along this line have had a history of producing 50 to 60 mph wind gusts bringing thunderstorm wind damage and power outages. Additionally, a few have briefly had spin-ups. A brief tornado or two can't be ruled out within the stronger storms and a tornado watch still remains in effect for much of the Florida Panhandle and Big Bend, and southwest Georgia.

1 of 4 tornado emergencies in southern Mississippi last night. So far I'm not seeing any confirmed fatalities from any of them.
