It's nearly 80⁰ right now, but it's going to be super cold to start off the new year and it looks like rain will be following behind it.

Tornado warnings don't generally occur in LA.

Much of the west coast is being hit with an atmospheric river this week. Many of the areas that burned will experience mud slides and debris flows now that there is no vegetation to hold it back.

I will be so glad once this thing passes. I'm so tired of reading the conspiracy theories about it being an alien spaceship. It's a rock. It's on fire because it's moving so fast. It's 175 million miles away from us and we'll likely never see it again.

On Friday, Dec. 19, the interstellar comet 3I/ATLAS will pass within about 170 million miles of Earth on its trajectory through the solar system. This is the closest that the comet will come to our home planet.

170 million miles is nearly twice the distance between Earth and the Sun, or more than 700 times the distance between Earth and the Moon. Comet 3I/ATLAS poses no threat to Earth — but as only the third known object to pass through our solar system from elsewhere, our scientists are keeping a close eye on it to learn more about other parts of the galaxy.
