The world feels a little less sparkly, a little less feisty, and a whole lot less Dolly. ๐Ÿ’”

Dolly Parton wasnโ€™t just a singer. She was a storyteller, a songwriter, a businesswoman, a philanthropist, a trailblazer, and for so many of us, a soundtrack to growing up. I still remember watching her in 'A Smoky Mountain Christmas'. And, I'll straight up call you a liar to your face if you say you never sang 'Jolene' at the top of your lungs!

In all seriousness, she helped shape my love for music. Between the rhinestones, the big hair, the bigger heart, and that unmistakable voice, Dolly taught us that you could be kind without being weak, successful without forgetting where you came from, and unapologetically yourself without needing anyoneโ€™s permission. And I'm just now (at 51) really learning to embrace my inner Dolly!

Most importantly, underneath all that glitter was a woman who never seemed ashamed of her faith. She knew exactly Who she belonged to.

So today, Iโ€™m listening to the songs that became part of the fabric of my life and remembering a woman who gave the world an extraordinary amount of joy.

And that last one feels especially fitting today. Because if there really is a place where the streets are paved with gold, I have a feeling Dolly has already asked where they keep the rhinestones. โœจ๐Ÿ’Ž

Well done, Dolly, good and faithful servant. (Matthew 25:23 KJV)

Thank you for the songs.
Thank you for the laughter.
Thank you for the courage.
Thank you for showing generations of people everywhere that you can be soft-hearted and strong-willed at the same time.

And thank you for helping make music a place where millions of us always felt at home. Until we meet again on the other side.

Invisible Illness

Living with an invisible illness such as CPTSD & PTSD isnโ€™t easy at the best of times. Trying to explain why going to that venue, or doing this task is challenging; sometimes feels harder than the act itself. Having to explain to others your reality is exhausting. Trying to get another to understand your fears, that seem unfounded from their point of view is really hard, over and over again. Never give up. Education and knowledge lead to understanding which in turn can help reduce stigma.

Life has a funny way of rewriting the story you thought you were living.

A little over a year ago, I couldn't have imagined the road I'd be walking today. There have been more surgeries than I ever thought one person could endure. Days where getting out of bed is the victory. Moments of fear, frustration, and wondering what "normal" even looks like anymore.

But somewhere along the way, I realized life isn't always about getting back to who you were. Sometimes it's about discovering who you can become because of what you've survived. And I'm still in full discovery mode.

I'm still healing. I'm still learning to live with limitations I never asked for. I'm still finding my footing. Some days are incredibly hard. Some days are beautifully ordinary. And I've learned to celebrate those ordinary days because they are gifts from God. Well, honestly, even the tough days are gifts. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป

I've also learned that strength isn't always loud. Sometimes it's keeping the faith when answers don't come. Sometimes it's laughing anyway. Sometimes it's reading one more chapter, watching a sunset, hugging your people a little tighter, or simply saying, "I made it through today." ๐Ÿ“–

If you've been wondering how I've been, I've been healing. I've been praying. I've been growing roots deeper than I ever knew I needed.

Life may not look like I planned, but God is still writing the story. And I've decided I trust the Author.

So here's to the next chapter. It may have a few plot twists, but I'm still turning the page. ๐Ÿ’œ

If you've walked this road with me, prayed for me, checked on me, or simply cheered me on from afar... thank you. Your kindness has carried me farther than you'll ever know.
