The final checker flew on Rob and Kenzies Rookie season in Legends as well as at Beaver Dam Raceway for good.
Beaver Dam is where Kenzie started racing. The first time she ever went Rob and her went solo for a practice night. They didn’t know you couldn’t drive in the pits with the kart, we didn’t have a lift, so Rob ended up cutting a tow strap up and pulling her back and forth to the line. It’s far, the pits aren’t necessarily smooth, it was a disaster.
Kenzie got to the line, saw the pond, and said o hell no, she was convinced she was going to drive into it. Rob talked her off the ledge and sent her out there. We were new to karting, he sent her out with karts that looked like hers (ps they almost all look the same) and she was out there with Jr3 and she was a box stock. HUGE speed difference. She came in, in tears, said she sucked, and was ready to retire. Thanks to a pep talk from Faith Zellmer Schultz, Kenzie vowed to keep trying, and that night decided she was going to eventually race Legends at Beaver Dam.
Tears going into Beaver Dam and tears leaving. Thank you Beaver Damn for being our home away from home all those years, we met so many amazing people along the way. Many who are still close friends to this day.
Rob finished his Rookie Season 5th in MLDS Points
3 Heat Race Wins
2 Bmain wins
Hes currently sitting 7th in National Points at just the minimum amount of races in. Unfortunately we will not be running Nationals (unless someone wants to sponsor the tire bill lol)
I really think if he could have found what he did towards the end of the season things would be different.
Kenzie finished her rookie season 16th in MLDS points. I have a love/hate relationship with throw out nights, without it she would have finished 13th even with missing a night.
She didn’t cross the line first this year but her growth was huge. We are most proud of how she tried to learn to handle the car vs trying to go fast. From our opinion she was a car others felt comfortable passing knowing where she was going to be, and that can’t be said for a lot of cars that have been racing for years.
We will be BACK next season better than ever!!
Thanks to all our sponsors, past, present, and future. We could not do this without your support.
