President Donald Trump says he's nominating Bill Mercer, Montana's former U.S. attorney and now a Republican state lawmaker representing Billings, to become a federal district court judge.

Mercer would replace Judge Susan Watters, who is taking senior status. He must now be confirmed by the U.S. Senate.
