We had the pleasure of sitting down with singer and songwriter Eliza Lynn, a gifted folk, blues, and gospel artist whose concerts blend original songs, storytelling, and communal singing — something she beautifully calls a “healing hootenanny.”

During our conversation, Eliza opened up about her music career, how she first discovered her love for music, and the journey that led her from writing songs as a child on the way to preschool to recording albums, performing at Abbey Road Studios, and sharing her voice in churches, schools, prisons, and communities across the country.

We also talked about her relationship with Mike Alexander, both musically and personally, and how their connection has shaped her artistry throughout the years. From playing together in Asheville, to creating albums, to finding their way back to one another in Arizona, and now making music together again as husband and wife in Greenville, SC — their story is one of love, growth, healing, and song.

Eliza shared what she hopes to be known for in her music: songs that invite people in, create space for healing, and remind us that music can be both deeply personal and beautifully communal.

With her big, room-filling voice, her guitar and banjo, and her soulful blend of blues, folk, gospel, and storytelling, Eliza Lynn continues to make music that speaks to the heart.

As Eliza sings:

“Wait with your heart, you’ll move right from the start…”

And in the words of You Gotta Live:

“You gotta live until you die, you gotta live and be alive
And do what you can, God’s holding your hand.”

Be sure to tune in to this inspiring conversation with Eliza Lynn on Radio Baha’i.
