🦖 Dinosaurs are taking over the Preston Arts Center.

Dinosaur Dimensions kicks off the Henderson Area Arts Alliance 2026-27 season on September 15, bringing life-sized prehistoric giants to the stage for a show the whole family can get into. Roars, teeth, and a little bit of science, all in one afternoon.

Earle C. Clements Job Corps will stay open ⬇

The U.S. Department of Labor has agreed to reverse its May 2025 decision that would have stopped operations at 99 Job Corps centers, including the Earle C. Clements Job Corps in Morganfield.

📄 A release from the Job Corps said that it isopen, enrolling, and ready to help students prepare for successful careers.

“This is great news and a great time for young people to take a closer look at everything Job Corps has to offer,” said Jeff Barton, senior vice president overseeing Job Corps operations for Management & Training Corporation (MTC), which operates the center, in a prepared statement. “We want to fill every available seat so more young people can gain the skills, support and confidence they need to launch successful careers.” 🗣

Earle C. Clements Job Corps Academy offers hands-on career training in a variety of industries, including automotive and machine repair, hospitality, transportation, renewable resources and energy, advanced manufacturing, healthcare, information technology, construction, and finance and business, said the release.

These programs prepare students for careers in high-demand industries that need trained, skilled workers.

Students can also earn a high school diploma or equivalent, strengthen their workplace skills, and prepare for employment, an apprenticeship, higher education, or military service. For eligible students, Job Corps is free and includes housing, meals, basic medical care and training supplies.

“If you’re between 16 and 24 and wondering what comes next, Job Corps could be the opportunity you’ve been looking for,” Barton said. “Whether you want to finish high school, learn a trade, or begin a career with strong earning potential, we have openings now and people ready to help you get started.”

Radio control airplane club to host fly-in 👇

The Henderson Radio Control Model Airplane Club will host its annual Fall Fly-in Event at the Sandy Lee Watkins Park, 16040 Kentucky 351 near Hebbardsville, on Sept. 11-13.

This event is open to the public to come and watch, ask questions and learn about R/C flying.🛩

📅 Organizers say the best time to visit should be between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 11, and Saturday, Sept. 12, and until about 3 or 4 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 13.

In past years the event has drawn 30 to 35 pilots from five or more states, and around noon Saturday there should be more than 100 radio control models on the flight line to observe.

Kentucky writer, farmer and advocate Wendell Berry dies at 92 ⬇

Kentucky writer and conservationist Wendell Berry once wrote: “Beware the machinery of longevity. When a man’s life is over the decent thing is for him to die. The forest does not withhold itself from death.”

A lover of forests, the farmer, author and former English professor died on Monday at his home in Port Royal, according to the New York Times and other media reports. He was 92.

Born in 1934 to Virginia Erdman and attorney John Marshall Berry, Wendell Berry was a prolific writer of nonfiction, poetry and fiction from Henry County, Kentucky.

Friends of Audubon receive checks for conference center funding⬇

Henderson legislators presented checks to fund the construction of a conference center at Audubon State Park at Monday's Friends of Audubon board meeting.🐦

📄 The money, approved during the spring's Kentucky General Assembly session, includes $2.8 million for construction of the conference center and $500,000 for improvements to the park's campground.
