The adventures of Captain Luke Clyburn started while he was growing up on the banks of the Ohio River. He has been the leader of the Noble Odyssey Foundation for more than 53 years. The organization unites scientists, educators, and young people interested in underwater exploration and research to create and fund initiatives that will improve public knowledge of Great Lakes science and history. Noble Odyssey Foundation has produced thirteen award-winning PBS programs.

Rolling Hills Equestrian Center, is hosting Horses for Heroes, a FREE event for Henderson area veterans, firefighters, first responders, law enforcement members, as well as their families.

Experience a pleasant, stress-free event with resources, food, horses, and children's activities. Attendees and their families will be able to hear more about how equine-human interactions can generate emotional and healing support. Enjoy the day with tours of Rolling Hills facilities, hayrides, a Mission BBQ meal, horse grooming, children's activities, and much more! Whether you are just starting your family tree or an experienced researcher, this event is for you!

Join us for an Afternoon with your Ancestors! This event, formerly known as research night, will allow attendees to search our in-house online databases as well as browse the Genealogy and Local History Department's extensive collection in our resource rooms.

Write a thank you letter/card for an Honor Flight Southern Indiana Veteran! HCPL will be collecting Operation Mail Call cards and letters from September 22 through October 9, 2025, in the Genealogy and Local History Department.

On the evening of October 25, 2025, our local heroes will return to Evansville after their visit to the Memorials at our Nation’s Capital. We feel they deserve a special welcome home and part of that is called OPERATION MAIL CALL, when they will receive and open letters from family, friends, and the Tri-State.

Helpful tips for your letter:
* Simply use “Dear Veteran” as your salutation
* Do not date your letter
* Examples of signatures include Bobby, Mrs. Jones’ 4th grade class, or simply “A Grateful American”
* Leave envelopes unsealed, as they are easier to open for the Veterans

Monument Rededication Saturday, September 20th, 1:00 PM

The Monument Restoration Fund, under the oversight of the Friends of the Henderson County Public Library, continues the vision of preserving cemetery monuments that the Henderson County Historical and Genealogical Society began. We will gather in Henderson, Kentucky's Fernwood Cemetery, Section 10, to rededicate the headstones of four United States Colored Troop members who served during the Civil War:

•George Powell (~1835 - April 15, 1895)
•Caleb Ramsey (alias Caleb Thompson) (~1824 - May 2, 1890)
•Coleman Rucker (~1827 - May 25, 1895)
•George Woodruff (alias George Brown) (~1831 - January 17, 1897)
