Le Sueur's Amela and Greene families were blessed by Best Christmas Ever in the days leading up to the holiday, thanks to efforts from team leaders Pete and Ruth Schoeppner.

“Overwhelmed doesn’t even touch it,” said Lezlie Amela, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in October 2023.

The holiday spirit was strong in Henderson on Dec. 21, when community members rallied to bless the Hornaman family as mom Jody is still recovering after contracting West Nile virus in August.

Santa Claus himself was moved to tears and said it was “absolutely the best thing I have ever seen."

The Giants boys basketball team won close games against NYA and Mayer Lutheran last weekend to win this year's MRC Revival Tournament - and earn a 4-0 season record.

Le Sueur's city budget for 2026 started with a proposed 7.9 percent increase in September, but continued pressure from residents to keep taxes down has resulted in a decrease to 3.55 percent. The city will be certifying next year's levy on Dec. 8.
