🌱 Well… I did a thing.

For a while now, I’ve been playing with the idea of bringing two things I love together: teaching kids and life here at Cajun Roots Farm.

Today, the first little piece of that idea officially made its way into the world.

Meet the Story Garden Seedling Deck. 🌱✏️

It’s a hands-on writing resource that helps beginning writers learn to build a strong sentence one piece at a time. Kids draw cards featuring some very familiar farm faces, build and say their sentence, write it, and then GROW IT by adding stronger words and meaningful details.

So yes… Sadie, Nola, Pepper, Tasso, Praline and the rest of this crew now have jobs. 😂

This is the first resource from Cajun Roots Learning, and I’m pretty excited to see where this little seed grows.

After yesterday’s end-of-summer farm reset, I have fought for this nothing. I have earned this nothing.

The farm crew fully supports my plans—as long as “nothing” includes breakfast, second breakfast, treat distribution and several hours of watching them be adorable.

We were late for Black Cat Appreciation Day, and now we’re late for National Dog Day.

Thankfully, Nola and Annie have agreed to accept our belated appreciation.

Nola takes her role as farm security very seriously.
Annie takes her naps very seriously.

Both are essential personnel. 🐾
