NOT WATERING THE GRASS!
If youโ€™ve spotted giant water leaks around town spraying large amounts of water into the street, donโ€™t worry, it is just the Fire Department.

Over the past few weeks, the Hennessey Fire Department has been conducting its annual fire hydrant flow testing. Each year, crews test every hydrant to make sure it operates properly, has adequate water flow, and is ready to go when itโ€™s really needed.

Lt. Tyson Copeland has taken charge of HFD's hydrant testing program this year. Copland and helper Casey Barrow were south of town Wednesday, finishing up one of the last hydrants on the list.

So, if you see water running down the street, theyโ€™re not watering the grass, theyโ€™re just making sure the water goes where itโ€™s supposed to when the red trucks show up!

THE TEMPS WERENโ€™T THE ONLY THING TURNED UP IN AUGUST!
While the Oklahoma summer was doing its thing outside, Homestead of Kingfisher kept the fun going inside.

Hereโ€™s a peek at what August looked like around Homestead!

Bingo cards were filled, Walmart carts were pushed, root beer floats were piled high and creativity came out during art time. And in between it all, there was plenty of visiting, laughing and simply enjoying each otherโ€™s company.

Some days called for an outing, others for a little friendly competition, and some were best spent gathered together with nowhere else to be.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY? The investigation continuesโ€ฆ
We already know Poncho, Kingfisher County District 2โ€™s resident security skeleton, has a strange sense of humor. But this week, things may have gone a little too far.

Wednesday marked office manager Alisha Haymakerโ€™s 50th birthday, and apparently Poncho and his skeleton crew decided balloons and cake just werenโ€™t going to cut it.

Instead, the crew commandeered the forklift, somehow acquired a casket and even recruited the Grim Reaper for the occasion.

Apparently, in skeleton years, 50 is old enough to start making arrangements.

Our investigative team has determined that the red-haired skeleton wearing the โ€œVOTEโ€ shirt is supposed to represent Alisha. Based on the photographic evidence, she does not appear to be taking the news of her advancing age particularly well.

Authorities have not determined where the casket came from, why the forklift was involved, or who approved any of this.

Poncho was unavailable for comment.

Happy 50th Birthday, Alisha!

Stay tuned to All About Hennessey. Weโ€™ll continue monitoring this increasingly disturbing situation.

There may be cake. There will definitely be laughter. And giving Alisha a hard time about turning 50 is completely optional... but highly encouraged.

Happy 50th Birthday, Alisha!

COPS AND KINDERGARTEN
The Hennessey Police Department had some very important visitors Wednesday!

All three Hennessey Kindergarten classes took a field trip to the police station to see what happens behind the scenes. Police Chief Solis and Officer Luis Rojo welcomed the students and gave them a tour of the station, along with an up-close look at the police cars and some of the equipment officers use every day.

There were plenty of questions, lots of curious faces, and, of course, checking out the police cars was a big hit.

It was a fun morning for the kids and a great opportunity for Hennesseyโ€™s youngest citizens to get to know the officers who help keep their community safe.

No arrests were reported, although a few suspiciously energetic kindergarteners were seen leaving the station.

Hennessey Middle School hosted its first junior high football game of the season on September 9, welcoming the Chisholm Longhorns to town.
The 7th and 8th grade Eagles hit the field ready to compete and showed plenty of hard work, determination and Eagle pride.
The Longhorns came away with the 22-12 win, but there was plenty to be excited about as these young Eagles continue to learn, improve and build for the season ahead.
Keep working, Eagles. The season is just getting started!
The Eagles are coached by Mark Cox, Nathan Hill, Matthew Fuksa and Aaron Pitts.
