Rollout of Apollo 17 - Slides taken by the IBM DDAS Telemetry Network Launch Controller in the Firing Room that launched Her.
A set Kodak Slides my Father took during the Rollout of Apollo 17.
Photons literally bounced off Apollo 17 and passed through this actual piece of film ~52+ years ago.
Something that touched Apollo 17 toughed this film leaving a memory that is priceless.
Then Dad got to launch this beast with the last humans ever to set foot on the Moon! Earlier he helped launch the first humans to do so!
Do not ever think you can't do what Dad did!
You can do so much MUCH more than to just launch humans to the Moon.
Dad helped launch Apollo 10, 11, 12, 16, 17 and Skylab 2, 3, and 4. He later built Space Shuttle Fight Computers boards in every shuttle along with the father of NASA SpaceX Astronaut Doug Hurley at IBM Owego NY. Hurley lived in the same hamlet of Owego, Apalachin NY (JFKs Mob Town, lol) as us. I did not know him although I am pretty sure we played baseball against each other !?!?
I personally got to see many of these launches from on base. I was born 11 months before Apollo 11's return trip home from the Moon in Cocoa FL and only remember the launches from Apollo 16 and on.
Dad was on the launch Team for Skylab 2 so he got to watch Skylab 1 Saturn V launch with his entire family (smiles), on base, and this was my favorite launch... watching a Complete Space Station go into space in one shot, up close !!!!!!
Apollo 17 was the most WOW (and the last Humans on the Moon) but a SKYLAB:
A Space Station in Space a full ~4 Years Before the Battle of Yavin !!!!!!!
