27th Annual Commemoration of Vietnam Human Rights Day
(Washington, DC) --- The 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights recognized that “the inherent dignity and of the equal and inalienable rights of all members of the human family is the foundation of freedom, justice and peace in the world” and proclaimed that “Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person… No one shall be held in slavery or servitude.”
The Vietnam Human Rights Day is an annual observance held in the United States on May 11. It was designated by a Joint Resolution of the United States Congress and signed into law by President Bill Clinton in 1994. Deplorably, Vietnam continues to be an authoritarian state ruled by the Vietnamese Communist Party, one of the worst abus-ers of basic human rights.
On the 27th Annual Commemoration of the Vietnam Human Rights Day, speakers will discuss topics regarding human rights for Vietnam. Members of the media and the pub-lic are cordially invited to attend.
