Men’s Mental Health Month: A Note to the Men in Our Lives 💙
While much of the work that I do at Uplift & Anchor is dedicated to supporting women navigating overwhelm and life’s heavy seasons, we know that the "anchors" in our lives - the fathers, husbands, partners, and friends - carry their own immense weight in silence.
June is Men’s Mental Health Month, and I want to take a moment to pause and speak directly to the men in our community.
💙𝙏𝙤 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙈𝙚𝙣 𝘾𝙖𝙧𝙧𝙮𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙇𝙤𝙖𝙙:💙
We see the "strong, silent type" narrative everywhere. It suggests that being an anchor means you must be unmoving, unaffected, and completely self-sufficient.
But even the strongest anchor needs to be held by something, too.
The pressure to "just handle it," to be the provider, the protector, and the rock, often comes at a steep cost. You don't have to be perfect to be worthy of support. You don't have to have all the answers to be a leader in your home or your community.
3 𝙏𝙧𝙪𝙩𝙝𝙨 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙏𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙈𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙝:
**Vulnerability is not a weakness; it’s a strategy. Real strength is the courage to say, "I’m struggling," "I’m burnt out," or "I need a hand." It takes more bravery to open up than it does to shut down.
**Burnout doesn’t care about your job title. If you are feeling overwhelmed, it’s not because you aren't doing enough - it’s often because you are doing too much for too long without personal replenishment.
**Your well-being is the foundation of everything else. You cannot pour from an empty vessel. Taking care of your mental health isn't "selfish" - it is the most responsible thing you can do for the people who rely on you.
𝘼 𝙎𝙢𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝘾𝙝𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙜𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙔𝙤𝙪:
*This week, I invite you to do one simple thing for yourself: Drop the act for five minutes.
Whether it’s talking to a trusted friend, taking a walk without your phone, or simply acknowledging to yourself that you are tired, just give yourself permission to be human.
To the men in my life and our community: Thank you for all you do. You are not just the weight that holds things down, you are the soul that keeps things steady. You are valued, you are seen, and you deserve a little bit of the same grace you give so freely to others.

Finding help can feel overwhelming, so I've compiled some great tools, organizations, and therapy directories specifically geared toward men to make the process a little easier.
